Yes, Lin is bigger, making him a better defender against post-ups and better on switches when defending against the pick and roll. But KJ did have some strong suits defensively. In particular, because he was so quick, he had a great ability to stay in front of his man and keep him from slashing to the basket, at least on isos. I remember in the finals against the Bulls, after Jordan was slicing and dicing the Suns' defense and consistently getting to the hole, at one point they put KJ, instead of Majerle, on MJ. MJ stopped driving. Of course, with his height advantage over KJ, MJ then started to post up or nail the mid range jumper with nothing blocking his view....

I remember that well. In particular, one slow-mo where they had MJ isolated on Majerle (supposedly a top tier defender at that time) at the top of the key, and Majerle was screaming over and over in slo-mo "HELP! HELP!" Of course the result was an easy two for MJ.

You know the only reason we are having this conversation is because of this original post right?

Maybe you shouldn't be so sensitive and take that as a joke, just like other keep telling Lin fans in the other thread about his gpa. That's guys seems to be joking.

Maybe you should read the context of the argument before chiming in.

The beauty of stars who have mastered different offensive techniques; they force you to pick your poison. That was what made Hakeem so great as well; you were either too slow, short, weak, or dumb to guard him. If you were slow, he could draw you out to the perimeter and blow past you. If you are short and fast, he can toss a jumper, fade, or spin fade/jumper towards the baseline. If you were too weak, he would just power past you. If you were too dumb, well it was already GG.

What did he say that wasn't true, since Lin signed with Rockets, there have been people on here who has criticized Lin, even before he played, because they didn't like the signing. Many were moaning and groaning for Dragic and Lowry.

And they had every right to do that cause they joined this site for the Rockets not one player.

Rockets fans didn't like drafting Robert Horry. He had to prove himself to them.

    Same with Lin.

In the 44 year plus history of the Rockets, players have been criticized by fans. And in the case of Clutchfans, it's just normal discussion.

the player only fans are EXTREMELY INSECURE. Lin is no more special than Yao. When Yao has a crap game, fans get ticked off. We're past the point that he's Chinese. We just care if he can grab a board.

Why? Cause fans actually believe Yao should do better. This is the same thing with Lin, he should play better than what he did .

If people are too sensitive, go join the Ralph Tresvant fan club, Clutchfans is Bobby Brown.

Lin is showing that he respects his elders, in the NBA, as well as in life.

Newbs need to do so too. They need to bow down to flamingdts now , say his name.

Let me translate this to you:

    Jeremy Lin on Olajuwon's comment.

Jeremy "Holy **** Clutch City is way better than anything in the whole world except for JC, I'm freaking lucky as hell to be part of this tradition cause this Hakeem dude is 50 years old and can handle the ball better than me"

Yes, they can criticize him, I didn't say they couldn't. So people better not get so sensitive to any criticism of other players if they play bad. And I've seen many be sensitive when their favorites gets criticized. To say that any praise for Lin is a target on his back especially on the Rockets fan board is just ridiculous.

Don't play the victim card please. I've been a regular member of a Knicks board for 10+ years and I haven't seen a single major player acquisition that hasn't been debated over vehemently and even before that player has played even a single minute with the team. The fact that divisions of opinion exist in regards to Lin's value as a player shouldn't be enough to make you cry foul play -- it's just sports fandom operating as usual. Get used to it.

that's your perception. this board didn't change for Lin. it's the new members who think it did.

    check your join date, yup.

now ask anyone who joined pre-Lin. they'll tell you they enjoy Lin.

There's nothing negative to say about this guy, he hasn't trashed the organization or screwed up the future of the team. fans don't boo lin.

Jeremy Lin doesn't post on this board, he didn't write anything to tick off Clutchfans.

    Think about it.

No one is crying victim. I was responding to the fact that Lin did not have a target on his back from the beginning.

If people keep telling Lin fans to not be so sensitive to criticism for Lin, then they better not cry foul when others criticize their favorites.
