Dogs are totally different than any other animal.. What other animal you know that would be loyal, go hunting with you, protect you, be playful with you?? It's almost like having a real human being by your side..
Could it be that his behavior WAS sociopathic? Every prison sentence has four main goals: 1. Remove a lawbreaking person from the public 2. Lay down an appropriate penalty 3. Jail the individual as a deterrence from ever breaking the law again 4. Rehabilitate him or her to become a contributing and upstanding member of society. The first three were done and by the looks of things, number 4 has also been accomplished. Why can he and others not be rehabilitated and changed by their punishment when that is the goal? Why does he have to be a sociopath forever?
Didn't seem very sarcastic, but if it was, my apologies. I took it as a real belief you were offering up.
it's almost as if you are suggesting this Carlson fellow is a victim of racist double standards... surely you are not just arguing for debate's sake?
Well, I kind of sandwiched that sarcastic spot in between other serious comments. My bad. I was just showing how Fox News over reacts, jumps to conclusions, and will do anything to bash a Democratic view, in my opinion, so I was trying to do somewhat of the same. I still like the fact that Obama reached out to him. It might not be the President's place, but he's a sports fan, and I like having a big sports fan in the office.
IMO that's a really crappy, arbitrary standard by which to judge the worthiness of an animal. Dogs are not different than other animals with central nervous systems. They want to live. They can feel immense pain and endure suffering, along with cows, pigs, and chickens that aren't thought twice about when we slit their throats, electrocute them, or drown them. Tucker Carlson should be fired ASAP. Vick served his time, and came back stronger physically and mentally. It's not his problem if people want to keep ****ting all over him. HE DID HIS TIME. Just accept the fact that he's a badass football player and move on.
Did he really reach out to Vick though? It sounds more like he reached out and thanked the Philadelphia Eagles for giving somebody a second chance.
Well, I guess that's true. My bad. Like I said, though, our country was founded, in large part, on second chances, so nice gesture by the President.
I am outraged that a news commentator that I don't care about stated his meaningless opinion on a news channel that I don't watch! OUTRAGED.
Dogs and humans have a unique relationship that dates back 50,000 years; nobody knows if they chose us or we chose them. You're right in the biological sense (and of course we should try to minimize or eliminate the pain & suffering of all animals under our purview, and you're way off in saying that no one who eats meat thinks about that) but wrong in the historical/civilizational sense.
Obama called the Eagles to talk about the solar panels and wind turbines they were installing at Lincoln Financial Field in an effort to go green. They talked about Vick as well, but he wasn't the reason for the conversation.
I had a similar reaction to the news when it first broke and it was revealed that he also took part in torturing them to death. You tend to over-react to things when they first happen, but its been 3 years. How he can say that today is beyond me.
