I had my ID on me but all they looked at was my voter card. I suspect it is much different in a swing state.
No big deal. Take your voter reg. card and a photo ID with the correct address... What's so bad about proving you are who you claim to be again?
one word: economy two words: ground game three words: people want change four words: no more Bush policy No one is taking anything for granted. We should all continue to donate, volunteer, dispel fear, smear, and lies.
2% is probably within the margin of error. There are a number of polls out ther that show Obama beyond the margin of error.
Nice bump. Isn't Obama's lead bigger than that? Isn't he contesting some states that are normally always red?
If only there were a place with actual, quantifiable data for a comparison between the status of the election now vs. in 2004... oh wait, there is! http://www.realclearpolitics.com/bush_vs_kerry.html Over 50 polls were taken in October 2004. Kerry led in five of them, or around 10 percent. Now, here's the polls taken in 2008. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/us/general_election_mccain_vs_obama-225.html Tell me, does that look anywhere close to the same?
11/1/04 was my youngest son's b-day!!! It was also the day Hunsicker resigned from the Astros!! And I was so busy with my family, I thankfully had no time to sign in here and read all the posts regarding the election. Hooray for me.
That's not fair! In Faos' world, you're not allowed to use facts. You're supposed to take a snippet of info and distort it to whatever you want to believe, and then close your eyes and ears and pretend it's true. But as long as you brought up those horrible facts, here's some more for Faos' consumption. Here's the polling breakdown by state, only giving states to each candidate outside of a 5% margin. 2004: <img src=http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2008/Pres/ec_graph-2004-solid.png></img> 2008: <img src=http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2008/Pres/ec_graph-2008-solid.png></img> Two things to note. One, the stability of this year's race compared to 2004. Second, the fact that at no point in the 2004 election (besides early summer), did Kerry ever show an electoral college majority outside of the margin of error. If you take out the 5% margin aspect and assign every state based on who's leading, you get an even more obvious difference: 2004: <img src=http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2008/Pres/ec_graph-2004-all.png></img> 2008: <img src=http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2008/Pres/ec_graph-2008-all.png></img> It's quite obvious that the polling is different this election.
What makes this whole attempted bump even worse is that you didn't even take a few minutes to read the thread. If you had, you'd have found this to be the majority opinion: Wow. I'm pretty stunned to see that from Fox News, of all places. Not that polls matter that much. I'm not going to get my hopes up too much. ... At this point you can literally find any poll result your looking for somewhere. None of them mean a damn thing. It'll come down to turnout and thats it. ... After all of this, there is STILL only one poll that means a hill of beans...thankfully, that poll takes place tomorrow. ... considering that this is Fox news. I wouldn't be surprised if they released those numbers just to get more Bush supporters to the polls. This is going to be a really tight race and I would have to believe that anything coming anywhere close to such a surge in support of one candidate or the other would be headline news. I just cant see these numbers as being correct, but hopefully I am wrong. ... For real. Don't trust FOX one iota. There wasn't a single showing of giddiness in there. I did, however, find this nugget from Batman Jones: rimrocker's pretty sure he's banned, though he has no idea why. He's emailed to ask, but hasn't gotten a response. Same as MacBeth. I miss having both of those guys around here. Major too. No wonder I don't remember posting about that election here - I didn't realize I was banned!
Dude! I didn't realize Kerry could still win the '04 election! Obama's winning so badly that he could cost Bush the previous election?
I cun't imagine FAOS' intent was to rally the other side's base...but Kudos, none the less. Nothing can be taken for granted. Polls = squat.
