Some really good posts here, thanks guys. However you are turning me into an Antoine fan and that scares the hell out of me. I have always thought of him as a player who hurts his team. Strangely, the better he plays, the worse the team does. The first time I recognized this was watching Stackhouse, then on a bad Pistons team, play the Rockets. At first the game was fairly clsoe, then Stack sttarted to score a bunch, and the Pistons fell behind. In the end he scored about 40 points and the Pistons were blown out.

But back to the topic at hand. I guess what I am hearing is that Walker can be what we need, if he acts right. Swift, even if he acts right (big if - btw) may not have the skills we need. I have never been a Swift fan either. He just seems to be one dimensional (not sure what dimension, but clearly not a well rounded player), and really has not progressed over the last couple of years.

Maybe we should go for Marshall. Because he is the oldest. Plug the gap now and try again in about three years.

even if we get bobby simmons like everyone here is dying to get, you can't forget that we still need a pf. i thought that was atop the rockets' priority list this summer. am i right to assume that yall think we'll sign one and SNT with the other guy(cuz we aint money)?? i think a productive pf is a more important piece than a sf/sg.

and i also thought that the pg position was a priority too. we still lack a pure point guard on the team. yes we would like to see spanoulis play and yes most of us know that james aint a pure pg and no head isnt a pure pg. why not dan dickau??

    my team:

    c- yao, dike
    pf- stro/saf, juwan, badiene?
    sf- tmac, padgett, bowen
    sg- head, barry
    pg- dickau, james, spanoulis

oh yea..... regarding wesley and sura

i would like to keep one of them to have as a starting sg, preferably sura. im thinking with the acquisition of either dickau or our new pf that a sign and deal transaction would take place. sura in my opinion would have better trade value. but i guess the pg situation all depends on spanoulis. keep him as a bench player or maybe trade him along with whoever.

Well I really dont like the idea of starting an undersized rookie at the SG position. Knowing that JVG doesnt like to play young guys, I doubt that Head gets more than 10 mpg anyways. Also I am not sure how we can get either Swift/SAR and then sign Dickau. All of them will command around the full MLE this summer and unless we do a S&T we wont be able to get both the PG and PF positions taken care of.

yes, hopefully we'll keep sura or wesley and start them at the 2.

    and we should:

    1) sign a FA
    2) sign and trade

    we will get:

    1)stro/saf/marshall

    2)dan dickau

I feel the best way stromil swift can reach his full potential, is if we had a premier point guard with exceptional passing skills, that can lob the ball to stromile on the fast break. obviously we dont have that with sura and who is mike james. (who?? mike james) havent seen enough of luther heads passing skills to criticize, because he was so damn busy jacking up shots in illinois.

A "pure" point guard is over-rated...

at least on this team...all we need our point to do is bring the ball up without turning it over under pressure, and then have the ability to make a good pass to Tmac or pass it down to Yao...he dont need to be a fancy schmancy "pure" point for that.

get that outdated concept out of your head when thinking of the Rockets...we dont need one.

On the concept of rookies not getting any time...that BS...if they show in practice and training camp that they deserve minutes...you can rest assured that they will get minutes...the reason why you havent seen VG play alot of rookies minutes was because they weren't deserving of minutes...go back and look at who he has had to work with over the years...he hasnt had a decent rookies in the entire time he has been a head coach...it is true that he feels more comfortable with vets...but he isnt a stupid man...if the rookie (Head or SPano or some undrafted guy) comes in and shows that he will do the things VG wants, he will get minutes on the court until he proves himself unworthy.

There aint no way a player that deserves court time will rot on the bnech.....that my position until someone can show me verifable proof otherwise...I have asked for proof of these claims that VG and/or Tmac dont like rooks...and no one has ever been able to show me a actual quote or article saying that.

So...I call BS on that conventional wisdom...
