"Sh-t, man. That honky mofo mess with my ol' lady. Got to be running col' upside down his head, you know?"
I'm not feigning ignorance, like I said, it was hard to judge based on a screen cap what was happening. I didn't discount the possibility that it was racist in nature, but it would shock me considering how far Fox has attempted to go to appear fair and balanced this election, even touting studies that have demonstrated them as being the fairest of the news networks this campaign season.
Are you going to ignore the fact that Michelle Obama enthusiastically referred to her husband as her baby daddy?
You mean "baby's daddy", right? You see, that is actually factually accurate. If she had actually called Senator Obama her "Baby Daddy", then maybe you'd have a point. The term "baby mama" is used to describe a woman who has a child with a man she isn't married to. It is a blatant insult to use such a phrase in reference to Michelle Obama, as it was intended to be. Stop defending it.
you dont know very many black people do you? educated black people dont talk like that. they dont say "im going home to my baby's mama" do you work for fox news? why cant you ever admit when something is unprofessional or wrong? saying "baby's mama' has nothing to do with celebrating diversity, dumbass. You should move into a city and meet some other people. Get your ass out of Jasper, TX. Not all minorities are uneducated. Not all white people are rednecks. I can tell you wouldnt know how to deal with talking to a person who isnt white. If you had to entertain a client who is black or work with someone who is black, you wouldnt ask him "how is your baby's mama?" cuz you know you would probably come off as a racist. you would ask him "how is your wife" Im just trying to help you out. Id hate to hear about how a grown man got his ass kicked. kinda reminds me of "when keepin it real goes wrong"
I am sorry you disagree but considering you call racist on everything I really don't put much stock in your opinion anymore. Let me ask you this, what is the best end result of race relations in the near (20 years) future? My opinion is making race less important, and not such a big deal if the president is black or hispanic. With this in mind, since the president is such a public figure, he will take heat, people will react as if it is racist, then the media will be extra cautious, and slowly things will move towards the better. Actually I cannot explain what I am thinking right now very well but I have seriously changed my opinion.
you actually don't know what I think. I was looking a thread that I posted in 6 years ago, that I brought up the other the day that I said I wish black comedians would tone down their race related jokes. so don't assume anything about me. you want to help race relations by having everyone be able to make openly insensitive remarks, I totally disagree that helps anything
obviously this is racist. there's not denying it. they coulve just said wife. in no other circumstance would they have said baby's mama.
Do I really need to explain the difference? I guess I do for the willfully clueless. The term "baby mama" refers to a woman who has had kid(s) with a man they are not married to. Try going up to a black woman who is married to the father of her children and calling her a "baby mama" and see what reaction you get. It won't be pleasant. Michelle Obama has license to assume she is actually married to her husband and therefore there is nothing pejorative in referring to Barack as her "baby's daddy", which are the actual words from the transcript, not "baby daddy". Her words should have probably been transcribed as "babies' daddy" since they have more than one kid. This would be the equivalent of saying the "father of my children".
I fail to see how the insults accomplish anything. I did not insult you. I have only attempted to tackle the situation without assuming it was racism because I saw a screen cap of a video clip. I have no idea whether Fox was quoting someone in particular with their headline or what, and neither do you. Your own bias is lending you to assume this is just racist bile, which it could very well be (something I already acknowledged).
It'd be easy to dismiss Faux News if only fools didn't lap that **** up. Instant media gratification allows people to see what they want to see and ignore things that make them feel unfomfotable.
When you misquote to try and support your point you lose the benefit of the doubt. Now maybe you didn't actually go read the CNN transcript, but if you are really interested in an objective, dispassionate discussion of the issue, you should have, before commenting. There are several posters around here who are notorious for going to ridiculous lengths to deny the blindingly obvious when it doesn't suit them. I lost patience with that tactic years ago, but sorry if I incorrectly painted you with the same brush.
I didn't intentionally misquote. One the first page I quoted it correctly. The second time was just typing faster than I was thinking. I did read the CNN transcript.
Then you saw it was from November 2004? I'm stil struggling to understand why Fox News would want to make an allusion to a quote made by Michelle Obama almost four years ago. Did something happen recently to make it relevant?
