So the NYT sat on the Susan rice story for 2 days and now CNN refuses to report it.

Dude there was a 10 minute lead story on Anderson Cooper tonight about this.

And they confirmed that so far nothing illegal was found to have been done by Rice by government officials.

Also Jim Sciutto did some major explaining to try to get people to understand that the unmasking, the leaks inside the White House, and the Russia/Michael Flynn story are three seperate stories. Three stories that Trump and co are trying to muddy the waters with and combine to divert and paint a picture to his followers that he's a martyr and Obama is Satan himself.

If folks don't realize they are being played and manipulated than I've lost all hope in humanity. People really are sheep being led off a cliff here in the 21st century living in their alternate realities where you get to create your own facts.

the leaks and the unmasking are not different issues. Evelyn Farkas confirmed this in her interview. They purposely leaked the info received from the unmasking because they were concerned it might be considered illegally obtained info and therefore disappear. I don't really consider the Mike Flynn stuff a separate story either as that stemmed form the unmasked wiretaps.

being played how? are you saying Susan Rice did not unmask the incoming president's team? A current administration unmasking wiretaps on the incoming administration and then leaking the data to the press is a massive deal no matter how you feel about the topic. Far bigger than Watergate. Unmasking is very rare and she will have to justify doing it. The fact that they have found nothing on the Trump administration won't help her case.

No ****. What illegal behavior has Mike Flynn or any Trump official found to have done?

your idea of covering a story seems to be having someone on to tell me this is not a story.

Perhaps the most complete look at the possibility Susan Rice "unmasked" people associated with Trump caught in surveillance of Russian officials... and whether doing so was wrong... or simply, doing her job.

Did Susan Rice Do Anything Wrong By Asking to 'Unmask' Trump Officials?

Man you really should consider a job at the NFL...hearing they wanna move the goal posts left...I think its time for you to be quite and look at real information coming out. Rice is done. She will be before a senate hearing, and the question will be whether she was ordered to or not by President Obama.

    Let's go down your list.
    1. Not what Evelyn Farkas confirmed
    2. There was no current administration unmasking wiretaps on the on the incoming administration.
    3. We don't know what they have or haven't found on the Trump administration at this point. Why are you in such a hurry?

Was the purported unmasking done illegally?

If the NSA finds that a foreign government has suspicious contacts with a "US person" involved in a presidential campaign, they are not allowed to determine who that US person is?

Or am I missing the point, and the issue here is that the name of the person was leaked the the press?

Its unknown. We certainly know Susan Rice lied about it like she lies about everything.

WTF is 'suspicious'? if illegal things are discussed then sure you can unmask. if not then this is bullshit. Nothing illegal has been found at all on the Trump administration. 'Suspicious'? by that criteria the government can unmask everyone. Who needs to be suspicious?

Nope your not missing anything. Everyone on Trump's team and Obama's team both have good hearts and only want what is best for the United States. While everyone here and everywhere else sits around and argues about how the other side is awful and can see no fault with their side no matter the circumstances.

I can understand arguing/debating/having a conversation about social issues. But my god some of you people draw a line in the sand and act like it's a mountain. Perhaps Trump has done some unethical things along with his team regarding Russia. Perhaps Susan Rice and others did do something unethical for their own best interests and not the countries. Try not to automatically agree with every talking point with your affiliation.

Well, there is considerable evidence that Russia was trying to affect the election -- in particular, trying to prevent Clinton from being elected. And close ties between people in the Trump campaign and Russia were I believe a matter of public record. So, any contacts between Russian officials and people in the campaign can, IMO, be reasonably viewed with suspicion. Part of the job of the NSA is to be extra suspicious and follow links -- even if they seem tenuous at best to us. It is not a surprise to me that they would do this, and I don't conclude from it that there must be a shady political reason for it.

My concern is more with private information regarding these people in the campaign getting prematurely leaked to the press, not the "unmasking" per se. Or maybe that's what people are talking about with this whole unmasking thing.

The more you talk about this, the less it seems like you know what you're discussing.

Yes, once again the crew that will ignore presented evidence in the Russia fiasco, will jump to conclusions without actual evidence of anything wrong in the case of anyone who worked for Obama.

So that's all it takes for you? no legal process? just someone in intelligance needs to declare they are suspicious? then a person can be unmasked and have wiretaps distributed to all intelligence branches? NO judiciary branch in this process at all?

that should concern you and you should be wondering if maybe people were unmasked so the information could be leaked.

Talk about hearing what you want to hear. Evelyn Farkas was NOT with the Obama administration during the timing of these other stories. Again she left in 2015. Right wing talk radio is reaching on this one.

What Farkas was talking about was how the Obama admin dispersed Intel to their allies in order to protect the intelligence which is common, and has been discussed often by intelligence officials over the past few days if you watch anything other than FoxNews.

Here's the story that was widely reported-

    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/01/us/politics/obama-trump-russia-election-hacking.html?_r=0

Did that lead to leaks? Maybe... you can't control what, lets say MI6, does with your intelligence reports, or what anyone on the Hill, CIA, NSA does with them, but that's what Farkas was talking about. When she says herself "That's why you have the leaking" that's what she's talking about. The Intelligence was shared both on the hill and with other intelligence agencies which is common place. Barack Obama can't control what was done with the intelligence, but is common to share it.

So yes, this is a totally different story. The NYT Story is thorough, and explains the situation better than I can.

You are being played because Trump & his propaganda machine is muddying the waters by combining stories and trying to portray Trump as a Martyr and Obama as the perpetrator. Its like if a boyfriend cheats on his girlfriend, but gets mad because his girlfriend looked at his phone, and accuses her of cheating with no evidence. Her relationship with her EX is a separate issue, and her nosiness at looking at other peoples phone is another issue. Him cheating is a separate issue, but it all gets tossed around in one argument to make the cheating boyfriend feel like a victim.

You don't know who leaked any intelligence about Michael Flynn. You don't know who the "unmasked" people were talking to in Susan Rice's intelligence reports where she unmasked people. What you have is 3 or 4 stories, and you are combining them into one and creating a narrative.

If you talk about the unmasking, dispersion of Intel by the Obama admin, and Leaking in the same statement, you are purposefully muddying the waters. Talk about each topic separately in their own context if you want to have a serious discussion about that topic.

This is an oldschool media technique that is used often in Russia by the Kremlin FYI. That's why they have state run media. So they can provide techniques like this with media manipulation in order to "Muddy the waters" and portray their narrative.

    "Unmasking is very Rare"....

Are you a freaking Intelligence official? Do you know what Susan Rice's job was.... TO UNMASK PEOPLE IN INTELLIGENCE REPORTS. Every single intelligence official who has been interviewed over the past 6 months has said that this is common, and there is nothing to the unmasking story.

You really want to go down this road? You want to just focus on strictly Illegal or you want to talk about these type of things, and tell me they aren't serious?-
-Flynn was working as a foreign agent while being a senior official in the White House.
-Carter Page had previously shared information with Russian Spys who were recruiting him as a US Spy asset (see buzzfeed story from yesterday)
-Jeff Sessions lied to Congress about meeting with Russia
-Kushner meeting with Russia bank (Putin's closest bank) that is currently under sanctions.
-Roger Stone communicating with Guccifer 2.0
-I could go on... do you need more, or are you going to go one by one here and tell me the Right Wing talking point pivot to each story to explain how I'm the idiot here, and these stories are FakeNews?

You want to tell me that Susan Rice, WHOSE JOB IT WAS TO UNMASK PEOPLE IN INTELLIGENCE REPORTS, is a bigger story than Watergate but all of the above is totally normal and kosher? Talk about optics.

I actually think all of them are significant stories.... BUT THEY ARE SEPERATE STORIES.

Folks have expressed concerns about right to privacy for quite a while. Heck, I know people that are unhappy with the government allowing ISPs to sell browsing histories of individuals without their knowledge or approval. If you are unhappy with the laws then you may want to focus your outrage there.

So you're saying it was done illegally, or you want more beuracracy in the intelligence gathering?

It doesn't appear that the alleged unmasking was done illegally, but I guess we shall see.

Haha. So Trump fans are upset as hell that Trump officials (who are under investigation by the FBI, etc.) were unmasked in intelligence reports LEGALLY by an intelligence high ranking official... but they don't give a sh#$ that the GOP and Trump official sold out your personal internet traffic history just the other day.

    http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2017/04...et-service-providers-sell-user-browsing-data/

Talk about priorities with Trump fans. They care more about Trump than they do themselves obviously. I'll give them this much, they sure are loyal.
