Being sick and busy with work is not a good combination.:( If it wasn't for a conversation with ROXRAN, I would have never known about Rudy last night.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand: I think that other than getting a true point guard, this was the best thing that the Rockets could do.

Yea, maybe Les didn't handle this in the best way, but let's face it, there are NO easy ways to handle disposing an icon like Rudy. I would venture to say that the main reason why Rudy lasted as long as he did is because of his prestige and loyalty with the organization.

I know there are people here upset about this, but those are people that are thinking with their heart, and there is nothing wrong with that. However, you can't think with your heart when you remember that the Houston Rockets are a business and their owner is trying to win championships. I think Les was more than patient and fair in giving Rudy the opportunity to get back to the playoffs.

Okay, enough about Rudy, on to Francis. As someone else said, until Francis starts winning playoff series and then championships, he is NO postion to tell management how to do their jobs. Period. The guy is a basketball player with phenomenal ability but nothing between his ears. He is just scared that someone like Larry Brown (who this team desperately needs) is not going to put up with his and Mobley (who hopefully will be jettisoned out of here) antics and hijinks. And it is about damn time that we get someone in here who is more worried about winning deep into the playoffs than being the number one buddy of the players.

Or it could be like kidrock said, Francis now knows that if he stays healthy and with Rudy gone, there will be no more excuses if the Rockets don't make the playoffs next season.

You know I just realized that I was finishing my 2nd year in grad school 6 years ago when the Rockets last got out of the first round in the playoffs. I never imagined in my wildest dreams, that it would be 6 years plus before they would make it that far again.:(

Steve always likes to talk about the playoffs....well, now is the time for put up or shut up, Francis.

I think we need to trade Francis and Mobley because they haven't gotten the message that in order to win in the NBA you have to play as a team. I got so frustrated watching them this past year as they constantly get lit up by other team's guards and continue to put up forced shots and make turnovers in critical parts of the game. Oh by the way, I think we should also throw Mooch in as part of the deal.

    trungvo IS RIGHT!

    1)Francis Gone!
    2)Mobley Gone!
    3)Griffin Gone!

These three jokers have got to go. The Houston Rockets are like the Clippers...lots of talent but no results!!

The first two are BALLHOGS, yes steve francis is an AMAZing player AT TIMES but very often makes Silly 5 year old mistakes...and hands the ball over to the other team. Ditto for Cuttino though he's no AMAZing player...he's an above average BALL HOG that has NO IDEA WHAT TEAM CONCEPT MEANS!!!!....there is no space on a team for players like him who think they are better than they really are!!!

And poor Eddie Griffin he's gonna be just another Defensive player who THINKS he's gonna be an offensive star some day...wake up man.....Jefferson is already TWICE the player Eddie Griffin is......and we gave up three players for him.......Damn the rockets are a MESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s: Yao Ming is the ONe who will bring the championship back to HOuston ...................................................................................................................................................................................Some day. :D

How about we wait till we name a new coach and see what he thinks huh? How would that be?

better idea... we trade them.. and what would we get? You have a team that's getting close even though they underachieved. Is this the year you want to break any chemistry that we have... esp after hiring a new coach? Even better... if the coach wants to dissemble the team and start... like Riley did in Miami... FINE! Until then, if Steve isn't to make the decisions... why are we making it?

to basically go into what I just said...

we all have problems about SF saying what should be done... maybe his B-ball IQ is not as its peak right now and he's speaking from his heart before he thinks about it. He plays emotionally, and as much as that doesn't warrant him to say a few things about things done and should be left to the front office. Why are we making the assumption that we are making the right moves by saying trade this guy or that guy because he's not working out? Have any of you thought and picture how the team would be like if we traded for someone who might be doing well in another team. How this person would fit into the players that we have? It's great to say trade this guy or that guy... but will the pieces that we get in return help... and if so.. WILL the other team take such an offer?? If not.. maybe we end up with someone.. let's say andre miller... ok... he does pass it in. If the ball comes back out when Yao gets double teamed.... can he make the wide open shot better? Better yet, we trade Griffin... or maybe even take that trade for SAR with mobley + EG. I'm sorry, but his defense is below par and how is THAt going to help us get Yao the ball? That guy prolly has just as much pride in his own game to do so. What's the next option? Trade Mobley (that part I actually agreed with).. but it's really not that easy. I'm sorry, but players WILL voice their thoughts.. and sometimes not in the best manner. What makes this a big situation is when people MAKE it a big situation... but that's the media's job. People say that Francis rated this as his second worst situation. Maybe it's simple. He hates losing a friend... it's almost as bad as playing for a bad team. He never mentioned that he wanted to get traded. When asked, he left it by saying that he doesn't have that in mind. That's good enough for me. he's entitled to his opinion, ESPECIALLY if the media surrounded him for comments not even 24 hours after it happened. Maybe if Francis is a better speaker, he might say... losing Rudy is one of the worst things happening (and go into detail by saying) because he thought Rudy was a wonderful coach and someone he looked up to... then maybe as a leader he mgiht add... " but it just tells me that our team has to work harder in order to stay together" that would be ideal, but maybe it didn't occur to him to say that especially since the "firing" of Rudy obviously took more of an effect on him than on the rest of us telling him what he should've said. Then go around saying trade him when I sincerely honestly doubt that we have a better understanding then he does.... in relativity to his understanding to the front office's.

That's right the team has underachieved. If we trade those guys and don't make the playoffs it won't be underacheiving anymore. We will be playing up to expections.

It's always wise after the team doesn't play up to expectations to make trades that will make the team worse. New coaches would love to work for the Rockets if they trade away their best talent. The less talent on a team, the more coaches are going to want coach it.:D

This is an excellent point. Perhaps, Francis is not a great speaker. When you are not a great speaker, you should always learn some key lines:

"I will comment on this later, right now is not the appropriate time"

Of course, you might anger the media by not directly answering their question.

Yeah, people tried making that point but (in my best Iverson voice) "we're talking about Francis!" I've learned that the rule for bashing Francis is to not look at what he says, but to pretend he implied the thing that would piss you off the most.
