I think resigning Von for 2m per would be a bargain. How is what he did any different than what landry did a a rookie? People want to discredit what he did last yr as flukey or lucky, that's bs. Without yao, ron, and tracy, if we take von out, we're going to have a hard time scoring 90ppg. The 05 season when yao and tracy was hurt, the team was averaging 92ppg and won 30 something games. I don't care how good defensively shane and trevor play, the rockets minus those others plus wafer will have a hard time scoring.

The more i think about it, the more i believe we should keep wafer but only at the minimum. he's experienced the playoffs, is still young with upside, and a proven player in the nba compared to jermaine taylor. all mental problems aside, which isnt as big of a deal as it has been made; von deserves another shot and we need his offensive firepower when we struggle to score (which might happen more than we'd like to see).

Yes, he experienced the playoffs. But he got destroyed by none other than Sasha Vujacic. I believe Von is a one and done type of player. He doesn't adjust his game. And when teams start figuring out how to stop him, he's going to majorly suck.

Agreed although if the Jermaine Taylor signing is true, things aren't looking good for the already on life-support "bring back Von" campaign.

Another horrible team like the Clippers would expose all of wafer's weakness.

Incorrect. He played fewer minutes but scored pretty much at the same rate with the same efficiency as he did in the regular season.

Do you guys ever use facts when discussing Wafer or do you just assume the rest of us won't notice that you completely make things up to back your opinion of the guy?

By destroyed, I assume he means making Von look like a junior high school girl bringing the ball up the court. He basically was embarrased by a one on one full-court man press.

I'm going to go with Adelman had a reason to cut his minutes that dramatically. That reason doesn't have to be offense.

I had no idea Von's job was to bring the ball up the court. I thought Brooks/Lowry were the PG.

I'm actually starting to appreciate the exaggerations of Von Wafer's weaknesses on the court. "jr. high school girl?" LOL

Nobody said the guy played a great series but if you look at the numbers words like "destroyed" and "embarrassed" are exaggerations at best and lies at worst. He scored the ball well in the 8 less minutes per game he was playing as opposed to the regular season. It's pretty much common sense that as the competition gets tougher the coach is going to go with the veterans in Shane and Ron over a guy who is basically getting his first taste of playoff basketball.

You would think Von is asking for Tmac money with all the criticism he gets from some of the members here.

I am pretty sure most people on this board would agree that they saw with their own eyes Sasha Vujacic take Von Wafer totally out of his game when they were on the floor together. I don't have a link or numbers to cite for you, but I think it was fairly apparent to a large amount of people.

Who's the one that took Artest out his game? We have an identifiable culprit who took Wafer out his game, so therefore that player "destroyed" him.

Wafer still shot 42% and 36% from 3 that series. Below his season average but passable. Compared to Sasha Booyoubitch 31% from the floor. Will admit Wafer didnt provide anything other aspects and got frustrated into turnovers. I was disappointed in his lack of focus, as was Adelman for sure... But the ownage really isnt as drastic as it appears. If Sasha played like Wafer, Lakers win going away.

Nothing on the Clippers shows promise. They are the Clippers.

    According to http://www.storytellerscontracts.info/resources/09-10salaries.htm

David Andersen 2,325,000 2,511,000 2,697,000 (signed with the MLE)

Adding to that Jermaine Taylor takes up about 725g of the MLE in season 09-10 and I'm expecting Chase Budinger to be signed with a similar contract.

Wafer is not gonna get a good deal if he wants to come back.

He had his chance. I believe the Rockets have their bi annual exception which Von can be signed with. The longer He takes, the lesser option He will face thus forcing him to sign for half of what was offered to him.

Nope, Barry has the bi-annual exception. We can use it next summer...

In that case, that will spell the end to Wafer's Rocket career. Unless He decides to sign for whatever is left, He would not be in a Rocket's uniform this season.

There's (going to be) @ $1.7mm +/- left in the MLE acc't. How much of that was offered to Von Hawk?

Reminder: If VW re-signs here for one year then he's in 'Early Bird'. Two year deal = full 'Bird' and he'll be in prime age for a prime deal.

I think Morey did give VW the Bird, but not in the sense you are discussing.
