On a team that has been lead by a player who doesn't play every time he feels sad or has a paper cut I would think we could be a little forgiving to a guy who got himself in trouble with the coach because he actually wanted to get out there and compete.

I think Morey can lock Wafer up for 3 years at a very reasonable rate. I think he will too.

Is Wafer like the new Steve Francis on this board?? Every little thing that goes on is there going to be a thread about him. I mean jeez let it go. He isn't coming back. its over.

Accepted Morey's deal? That could be the player minimum, never heard Morey gave him a deal from TV or radio. To me, the rockets no long need Wafer so badly since Yao is out of the year. Do not know how much he can get from here.

Morey is just smarter than Wafer and his agent. Here it is Aug and still no real offers for him. Just rumors about teams being interested and talking to him. I think his agent has overvalued him after a decent season with us. He really only has a one year sampling. That will not get you a long term deal in the NBA, especially in a down market. It would be best to take the pay raise (and guaranteed playing time in the system)we were offering for two years and prove yourself again and then get your money. He is still young.

I like the energy the guy brings and he can shoot it when he is in rhythm, I think he can be a good backup SG one day. If he resigned that could mean we move or release Barry ( i think his leadership will be useful this year). Not sure what the team's thoughts are on J Taylor. Also B Cook is still hanging around with his expiring deal.

Maybe Morey is waiting to see if Wafer blinks and signs the deal we offered before he makes other moves. Still got McCants out there as a SG for cheap. He is not getting offers either. He is more proven than Wafer.

If CD was still GM, Wafer would have won the lottery.. CD would have given him a 4 year $40mil deal..

Wafer does bring the intensity and energy, but also brings a negative attitude at times and to be honest, he's only had ONE good year. He's still got a lot to prove. IF Adelman wants him back, bring him back for a 2 yr, $3 mil (at the most); 2nd yr a team option.

wafer we are not being critical of you but if u want to be a ROCKET you need to sign now and not think about joining any other team , one time! we need your services but need to stay pat on the salary cap to give you a three year deal come next free agency ;) .

the rarity of decent 7 ft. Centers makes them 10X more valuable than avg. size SG.

Not necessarily. Cook can always be released (since we won't use him ever, and I doubt another team would pick him up) or Cook/Barry can be packaged for some equivalent player (2 for 1). There are ways to clear roster space.

He is worth the min. On every team he has every played for except for the Rockets he didn't even leave the bench. He had a decent season last year but that is mostly because teams were doubling/tripling Yao. Take Yao and to a lesser extent Artest/Mcgrady away and Von is back to a bench warmer. Wafer just shot the ball a lot when he got PT.

Cook/Barry are very useful players because they have moveable expiring contracts. Tmac's contract is huge. You package cook/barry and you get a mle type guy if a team is looking for a salary dump.

Thank you, Captain Obvious. That's why it's a team game.

The case can be made for every team in the league. For example, take Kobe and Gasol off of LA last year, and what's Ariza?

He's no longer the deadly spot-up shooter who capitalizes when Gasol's doubled on the block, or the slashing swing-man who throws down a vicious back door dunk when Kobe's pressured on the wing.

Not every player on the team's going to be a superstar, hence, the term "role player."

It takes a combination of multiple talents and attributes to form a successful team. Morey's job is to put all of the pieces to puzzle together.

Also, of course Von's going to "shoot the ball a lot" when he's in the game. Did you forget the fact that he's a shooting guard? That's his job.

I guess you don't watch the games or you would have seen that his numbers were great when he started in place of.......guess who.......McGrady/Artest.

Some of the Wafer hate is beyond stupid. His defense is poor and he doesn't have the greatest court vision but he scored the ball efficiently in both a starting role and off the bench. Your comment "Wafer just shot the ball a lot" is particularly stupid when you consider the efficiency. I guess in your world you prefer the player who isn't a good scorer taking all the shots?
