True, They tried/ are trying to play the market but it does not look to good for them now. Best case scenario for Wafer is to stick with the Rockets for one more year and try to develop more so as to try again next year for a bigger pay. The Rockets are the best team for him because of familiarity on both sides. The team knows how He plays and llikewise He knows the system of Adelman.
The Clips have more money to pay Von but the trend this off season is to only offer 1 year deals. I see the Clips offering him a 1.7 to 2M/1 year deal and plenty of playing time now that Taylor is gone and Ricky Davis is declining. Morey may match that offer but any more and Von is gone.
I think I'd take him for a fair price - Wafer is definitely superior to Taylor as of this point, and no reason we couldn't use him.
The problem is that the Rockets drafted Taylor after Wafer rejected them. They paid 2.5 million just for the rights to draft Taylor, Wafer is going to have trouble making 2.5 million this year. Wafer's money has been allocated to Taylor.
Hey DD, was just wondering if you think Von Wafer's lack of D and attitude is conducive to winning basketball? Not trying to be smart here at all, but surely if you come down on T-Mac, then surely there's some questions marks on Von?
They have not signed Taylor yet ans still have part of the MLE. Is the Andersen signing official? If not then they still have the full MLE. Wafer had his chances but wanted to test the market and now He is feeling the heat of possibly taking less money then expected.
Is that a post? Seems like a clarion call to agree with you for some points in the reputation column. Is that how this thing is supposed to work? Just wondering.
Heck Yeah. Von Wafer would be a great spark off the bench for the Clippers. Signing Wafer probably means that Ricky Davis and his expiring contract will soon be shopped... Camby/Kaman/Jordan Griffin/Smith/Madsen Thornton/Davis/Collins Gordon/Wafer/Collins Davis/Telfair The Clippers are under the luxury tax and have a $7.3 million TPE plus $17 million in expiring contracts (Camby, Smith, Madsen, Davis, Collins). They aren't done making moves...
Bring back VONWAFER! Von, come back! Who cares about the money! You got an opportunity to get big minutes here! Your better than flightwhite or taylor!
If they offer him the MLE or at least 3M then yes but they will be overpaying him. He should have just accepted Morey's deal. and stayed with the team that gave him a chance to show his stuff.
He say he is stressed with this offseason? Maybe if he realized he isnt worth a huge contract he wouldnt be. Know your value, bust your ass over the next couple seasons, and hope for that big payoff in the future. You're 23 (or 24?). You have plently of time to be making money, dont let that get to you.
