Is that even allowed under the CBA. Guy has a year left on his contract, he opts out and signs with the same team for more money. Sounds like it should be legal but I don't remember any guy in the league that did that.

Big decision for Adelman/Morey, Bonzi was useless last season and he couldn't make a mid-range jumper to save his life.

Wow, if we can get Bonzi back and have him play the way he did in Sacto and then have VSpan play more minutes and have the same role Bobby Jackson had Under Adelman this could be something really special. We can even have Novak thrive in this offense much like Stojakovic.

ok, he was NOT a headcase in more than 50% of the time he has been in the NBA. in portland, he only was a headcase when they messed up a good team and he sulked playing for a bad team. the other time was last yr.

so REALLY, he's not that bad of a headcase. he's very coachable. our coach just didn't want to put an effort in coaching him.

If he wants to come back with no raise and work his way up from 12th man to starter, great. But, attitude issues aside, Van Gundy didn't make him come to camp fat and out of shape and he didn't make him stay that way. Bonzi's trolling for a raise. I say he owes the team 2.2 million dollars. But I'm willing to call it even if he wants to come back at his current salary and work his considerable ass off.

Well all the what if Bonzi comes back talk seemed like a long shot at best now it could be a reality. The Rockets need a lot of help so I wouldn't over pay Bonzi at the expense of not getting more help. If we got half the Bonzi that played for the Kings it could be worth a try.

Next thread will be how Bibby has rejoined Bonzi in Houston! This is going to be an interesting off season.

Oh now we're the promised land. If Bonzi gave a full effort last season, then the Rockets might have advanced. He wasn't even ready to f-ing play. I don't care what this quitter says. I hope he doesn't return. He may be able to help us but I don't trust him to follow through.

And if he settles for another underpaid contract, he will underperform again and become a team cancer again.

That and the fact that overpaying him doesn't guarantee that he won't let himself go or party the night before should give the Rockets enough reason to let his unprofessional ass go.

another sign of JVG yanking players and doing it his own way,

you know, even if Bonzi was a headcase this has some truth and can't be ignored. JVG puts his ego above anyone on the team and management, thats another reason he had to go

If by a few years, you mean part of one season, sure.

As for Bonzi...if he's legit about it, if TMac and Yao give the go ahead, and if Adelman wants him back, we could use the talent. But that's a lot of ifs.

Amel - It's tired. Just stop. Seriously. Bonzi and Van Gundy's comments both say it had nothing to do about ego.

No kidding, Bonzi never put the effort into the endevour but since most think its so easy to just put all of the blame on JVG, why not give this malcontent out of shape player another shot.

He had everything to play for last year and he didn't perform.

mike dunleavy is a guy that preferred his own son over corey maggette and HIS relationship w/ maggettee cost the clips a playoff spot

cheek is not a good coach

hubie brown and fratello are from the same JVG's mold => old school

That will be good scenario. But I doubt Bonzi will play for us cheap. One thing you can be sure about Bonzi is that the man is hungry for money.

yes, yes.... that's why nearly every player that has ever played for van gundy has referred to him as "the best coach i've ever had."

clearly he cant relate to his players.

i have heard barry. and tmac had doc rivers. rudy never really coached yao since he was still in the francis/mobley mold.

bonzi just said adelman is his best coach ever. and bonzi was supposed to be our missing piece.

and when i say relate to players, i didn't say he couldn't. i did mention veterans. i'm just saying he can't relate to the typical NBA player of today (who is a lil whiny at times and immature...-> the ron artest, bonzi, rasheed...
