I was assuming a sign and trade for Swift.

I agree the Nets are a very attractive option for UFA PFs like SAR & Swift. But for some reason or another, SAR is sold on the Nets and Swift is leaning more towards the Rox. At this point in time, if the offers for Swift are equal, the Rox will get him. Swift visited the KNICKS, not the Nets. I don't think the Nets are very high on his radar.

The bottom line is the Nets will do a SnT with the Blazers to get SAR. He has made it clear where he wants to go, and push will eventually come to shove. The Nets aren't our main competition for Swift.

Final thought: I've been very tough on SS but if JVG and the team want him so badly, maybe he is a good choice for us. The doubts are still there but I trust the organization to know which players would fit best on our team. Purely analyzing the facts about SS make me nervous about signing him.

i agree, i am not sure if Swift would just make our team better. I still have my doubts and i hope i am wrong. He better play some D or he will see the B as in bench very soon.

I'm thinking the Rockets will get Swift, but I have this feeling we're going to give up a lot to get him. Why is that?

Because he's the best PF available in a scarce PF market. Plus he's yelling: "Show me the money". He's 25 and he hasn't had a free agent contract, so he'll look to get every last penny he can.

So it's Between a Team with the Best AllRound Player in the game, with a great coach and the Best big fella going around. Conversly the Sonics have no Coach, no direction and a ageing Superstar who has 3 good years left in him. i think the Choice is Obvious. :p

I'm talking about besides the money. I think we're going to overpay him and give up some key players off this team in a S&T.

That's what I meant. The bigger Swift's contract, the more we have to give up in terms of players.

I think Swift will get 5yrs/40mill from some team. It remains to be seen whether the Rox are interested in offering that type of contract. I think Stro is worth at least that much, he'll outperform his contract. He's a star in the making. He's got the same skill set as Amare Stoudemire, it's just that Stoudemire gets to showcase his skills. T-Mac/Swift can run the same P&R that Nash/Stoudemire run. Yao will be utilizing his skills a lot better by working the post and not tiring out by having to execute/defend pick and rolls. I am not saying that Stro is Amare, I am saying his game is similar. Think about it, Amare is not as effective when he has to create. He is effective when he's spoonfed by Nash.

If Memphis takes one of our albatrosses(mooch, spoon), Swift is well worth the 8mill/year.

surely if you are Swift, the chance to have your game greatly enhanced by Jason Kidd has to be very appealing

...for the 30 games that Kidd's knees work. The other 52 you get to play on a crappy version of the Raptors.

    Extremely Scientific

Out of those three teams Rockets and Nets have a higher probabality with Sonics being a distant third. Sonics have 9 spots to fill

all things equal monetarily, houston is by far the best chocie for swift. he's a missing piece to a team that's just come off a 50-win season. kidd, carter, and jefferson are attractive but then again no team in the league would take any of the three over yao or t-mac. seattle i don't consider competition. watch him go sign there now. :)

    come to houston stromile.

Saying the obvious but its about the $$$$ for Swift. If as Nike said Seattle is under the cap and can make him a significant offer of 7-8M then thats where he is going. I hope Berman is correct that Swift will make his decision next week, it means that all offers are on the table and NO, Atl and Char are not bidding for his services. I wasn't completely sold on SS but if JVG, T-Mac and Mike James want him, who am I to argue.
