We agree to not invest in an unknown commodity

We disagree on the semantics of who started this mess

I say Rox should have kept their mouths shut about his medical condition

You say Baker screamed to the top of the mountain

Do you see where our discussion is going? I don't. I wonder if this is how Buddy and Daryl feel

Cato was Preseason. Landry did it real time.

Where's the "one bad contract"? If Morey was willing to offer Landry the full MLE, he'd have already of done it. Again, if your G.M. is batting .750 he's knocking balls our of the park left and right. Morey actually deserves to get a pass if he makes one bad move, his moves have been that great. If you can guarantee me that Morey will continue to have 3 great moves and then 1 stinker I'll take that every time.

    P.S.

Stop calling me a rookie just, because I just signed on.........I've been a die hard rockets fan for over 15 years.

You guys gotta be a little more realistic of what he's worth. Kwame frickn Brown signed with Detroit for 4 mill/per. Expect us to sign him to about the same with some room left on our MLE to sign Dorsey.

Brown got overpayed. I'm sure Landry is asking for more than that. I don't think Landry deserves as much as Luis does, just a little less than that IMO.

I don't really get where the whole, Landry is special thing comes from. He's a back up, a career backup on good teams. He's not a shot blocker, doesn't create his own shot, and is more a hustle rebounder then anything else. When healthy hes a better version of Milsap. I love seeing a guy give the type of effort Landry does, but you have to understand that he's only able to do that as long as someone else is drawing the attention on offense. He's a backup role player and should be paid as such

Not even close.....Landry would take a hit and still continue to finish and make his FTs....

I think if he is healthy he is a special bench player.

If you are a fair weather fan that watches some games and only some quarters of games = Landry is not that important

If you watch Rockets game religiously and know basketball = Landry is very important

That is basically what it comes down to.

if healthy Landry is Rony Turiaf v2.0 right now, and if he continues to develop, potentially a very solid rotation player that would start on quite a few teams.

he still doesnt have a lot of NBA skills, but he has a great foundation to work from. I think it would really benefit him to pay attention to the fundamentals that both Yao and Luis have at the core of their game (jumpshot, footwork, boxouts, post play)

pfft, I think getting Landry back is really important for the Rockets, but this type of thing basically saying "if you agree with me you're a real fan, if you do not then you're fugazi" is beyond imbecilic

Any update on how much was offered? And how much was the counter offer? Is the deal with money or time? By time I mean seasons with the rockets (contract expiration)

It isn't that simple. He played half a season and was effective in only half the games he played due to injury. He certainly was a shot in the arm offensively before the injury but nobody knows how effective he will be once teams realize who he is and how to play him. He scored buckets because his man was worried about someone else and left him open. We don't know what he can do when his man is staying at home on him and respecting his athleticism.

That's assuming he is even healthy enough to contribute for an entire season.

So that's what you mean by "time"!

It would be posted if there was an update.

This is exactly correct. We shouldn't care anyway. We can only use the MLE this year on free agents. What other free agent is out there that we could get for a portion of the MLE? We need to sign Landry and Dorsey out of the MLE, after that we are done unless we can package expirings for a backup 1 or 2. Deke either signs for the vet min. or we let him walk. Why all the hand-wringing over Les' money. If we don't spend most of the MLE on Landry who do we spend it on? If we don't spend it at all, it just goes away. It doesn't help our salary cap to not spend it and doesn't add to what we can spend next year.

I watched every single quarter of every single game last season.

Landry is important, but only if he is healthy. He kept the offense going from the 4 spot when Scola was on the bench. He has potential as well.

However, when he got mysteriously hurt he was very ineffective. That is something that should be of huge concern. To spend too much money/years on a player that could potentially be hurt (and thus hard to trade) would be a r****ded move. Morey knows basketball and he hasn't made that mistake yet.

IMO, Landry is important if healthy. Otherwise, he would drag us down and hurt our ability to trade/deal throughout the season and offseason.

I don't care about Les' money but I do care about our ability to deal with other teams for whatever needs rise throughout the season, specially knowing that Les will do anything to avoid the luxury tax.

I love Landry and hope we resign him but only when the reward is greater than the risk taken.

That's crap. He has a point. People who think we don't need him haven't seen much of the Rockets last year. What will be his offense role on the team the next 3-4 years while Yao & Tmac is here? While Tmac, Yao, and Artest are drawing doubles, his role is to cut to the opening near the paint to finish strong or find a mid range spot for an uncontested shot to punish the people who cheat off of him. He's a natural finisher and we need finishers with our stars to contend. Dorsey might be able to fill that role but he is an unknown right now. Scola is probably just an average finisher at best.

We do NOT need him to create his own shots. People who are undervaluing him do not understand his true value to this team.

Regarding his health, its also crap. Don't buy into the games they are playing. It's not like we are offering him a long term contract worth 10 million per year so why are you people so worried about it?

I love Joe Dumars, but he got taken to the cleaners on that signing. 8 mill over two years is absolutlely ridiculous. I suppose he's a legit 7 footer, but he is terrible.
