I know. Diop got the full mle for 2.5 points and 4.5 boards a game in 15 mins of playing time.

You guys are dreaming if we get Landry for 2 mil a year. Just look at the deals Amir Johnson and Ronny Turiaf got. Amir Johnson got 3 years 12 million and Turiaf got 4 years 17 million. Granted they don't have the injury history Landry has, but at 2 mil a year Landry would be vastly underpaid. Landry pretty much lead all rookies in efficiency last year and some of you only want to offer him 2.5 million? Do you guys not remember the years of seeing players like Chuck Hayes, Juwon Howard and Lonny Baxter manning the 4 spot?

fair enough. But they did gel together, I personally think without TMac, Landry would be mentioned along the likes of Mike Harris.

    Another trade?

Rockets have 17 signed players. Ewing and Singletary are partially guaranteed while Harris is non-guaranteed. With the depth they now have Head could be a trading chip and perhaps even Hayes.

    Head
    Hayes
    Harris (non-guaranteed)
    Singletary PG (42nd pick)
    Ewing SF (43rd pick)

Chris Wilcox is an expiring contract and OKC seem to be collecting young pieces.

    Hayes+Head+Francis ($6.53M) works for Wilcox ($6.75M)
    Hayes+Head+Harris+Singletary+Ewing ($5.49M) works for Wilcox

I don't think Baker gets it though. the day we landed Artest he lost a lot of leverage. I can say that Rockets and Landry flourish because of our system so without the Rox who knows how well he plays.

The real question is whether anyone offered him anything in the Johnson/Turiaf range yet. If no one has, and no one has offered him more than $2.5 million, then he'll have to at least think about a $2.5 million offer.

The sides are negotiating, all we have are opening offers, which tend to be pretty far off the target range. We'll just have to see where they end up.

At least theres some movement. The hitch might be that scope as well as the financial terms.

Turiaf is more proven, and can play the 5.

I'm going to be pissed if the Rockets sign this guy before he gets his knee scoped, as I've always felt that in the NBA one bad move can undo three good ones. Nor do I worship at the alter of Daryl Morey; even good general managers occasionally make bad mistakes, and this is definitely a development that concerns me, unless the offer is close to the minimum.

in years to come he just reminds me too much of a Kenny Thomas, Othella Harrington, Mark Bryant type of player..........

You're wrong. The whole knee thing is just the rockets trying to lower his value. The worst it could be is microfracture and amare signed a max deal and then 2 days later found out he needed microfracture and missed an entire season. He's fine now and we're not offering landry a max contract anyways so any risk is small financially.

Morey already signed francis last summer which is the only blemish on his resume so far with the rockets. It was a terrible signing and a waste of money.

I doubt they have other offers. At this point teams have nothing to lose if they tie up their MLE money.

If a deal isn't resolved, Morey's bound to do something else... Earlier in free agency there was talk of David Lee being on the trading block :D

Not trying to argue but why doesn't Landry just get whatever tests he needs done and clear the air he would probably get more money.

I'm really hoping that you will be proven wrong on that analysis this year. ;)

And yet, the reaction to that move on the BBS... Do I even have to mention it? I was widely recognized as a high reward, low risk move. Plus, the Rockets earned more than was due on hype and season ticket/jersey sells.

None of those guys were ever close to as efficient as Carl Landry in his rookie year.

The way he finished was something I have not seen in Houston in ...well...I can't remember when..
