who else was he supposed to sign? other teams were interested in brown also... so they had to pay a bit more to get him in detroit. sure he is bad but he isnt that bad as you say. detroit can contend for a title and they need role players.

Its a good deal for the Pistons if Kwame is not injured. 4M for a big man is a bargain especially since its only a 2 year deal.

I do agree that's a horrible signing but that's his market value right now. Turiaf also signed for 4+ million a year for 4 years.

I'm certain its going to be within that range, the main thing they are negotiating is the # of years on that contract. Ie. Rox offering him 8 mill for 2 years and his agent wants Turiaf like numbers for 4 years instead. I won't be shocked if they settle for 3 yr 12 million soon.

The hard part for me is we have a small window to see what he did. His stats are inflated because he only played a half season essentially. He rode the bench the rest of it. He only got to play because RA was trying to find something to get the Rockets going when they were stinking it up last year. He never hit the rookie wall because he didn't play enough.

He may be a good player and I think he can be, but I'm not going to offer a full MLE or even close to it for a guy with possible knee problems and not enough time on the court. Plus what ever we pay him is going to end up being double because of the LT. Sorry, for a line up loaded with four's, I'm giving him a small one or two year contract and then show him the love when he has proven himself and we have bird rights.

    mark my words

He will NOT get 4M a year.

I dont care what kind of crap contracts other GMs are giving out, Carl Landry is not worth 4M a year.

Point 2: With all the injuries we have sustained over the last few years, how can you NOT be concerned about the possibility for a major injury? This isnt the first time the guys knee has been messed up....it wont be the last.

Wether he is VERY important or just somewhat important....he is WORTHLESS on the bench in street clothes.

Three years at 12 mil sounds about right if you look at what the market is giving guys who are less talented than Landry. Sure guys like Brown are more proven and have been around but even turiaf isn't that good.

The knee I hope will not limit Landry next season but only time will tell. Landry is a bigger asset than many are giving him credit for. I'm sure the Spurs or Mav fans remember him even in his breif appearances and I would love to see him throw down some thunderous dunks on Duncan and Dirk next season.

Morey did a great job adding Landry to the team and that is one of his better moves as a GM IMHO, so let's get him signed a.s.a.p.

I don't know how serious the knee problem is, but it is very reasonable to be careful about it. If anyone disagrees, I got five words for you:

    Shareef Abdur Rahim, Geoff Petrie.

So did anyone else see this or did an article pop up about this? Not that I don't believe it, it's just in case the OP missed anything.

I just don't see the where he fits into the rotation. You got Sheed and McDyess pretty well entrenched as the starter, then you have Maxiell, Amir Johnson (Maxiell particularly is more productive than Brown) and you just recently signed Walter Hermann. Brown is still young, and maybe being surrounded by a bunch of guys that take winning seriously, will turn him around but that is a big if.

To me there's still a big difference between legit centers who are the ones that traditionally get ridiculous money for no reason (ie Adonal Foyle, Jerome James, Eric Dampier, Kelvin Cato) and undersized power fowards. They are far easier to come by in this league than seven footers. So even though his production and pontential are better than Brown's, I'm thinking Landry's value is closer to 2.5 mil. I also think it behooves him to take a shorter deal that way he can try to cash out if he really blows up and has a stellar season. That's why the knee is such a huge issue. But I guess I'm stating the obvious.

What happened to Landry's knee during the season, I forgot? Was it an internal problem in his knee or was it trauma ie.(took a hit)? Are his knee's that messed up or is this thing getting completely and totally overblown by Morey as a negotiating ploy with most people in here biting on that.

He bumped knees with I forget who but it took longer than expected for him to bounce back from it. It was not the knee he injured in college, though. I am not sure if this latest injury is the knee the Rox have requested the scope on, but I am assuming it is since I have never heard nor read that they have called into question his college injury.

    Rafer
    Tmac
    Artest
    Scola
    Ming

    Bench

    Battier
    Landry
    JR Smith
    Barry
    Brooks
    Dorsey
    Hayes

Are you kidding me? I smell rings. Lots and lots of rings
