I think you guys underrate the European leagues massively, just because they're not the highly athletic slam-dunking players doesn't mean they're not good. Look what happened at the 2004 Olympics and what a no-frills Argentina did to an All-Star USA team. Even in Beijing, the USA just got over the line against Spain even given all their extra preparation.

What did everyone think of Pau Gasol, Manu Ginobili and Luis Scola before they came to the NBA? Obviously I don't think David Andersen will become the next Pau Gasol but I think he can definitely contribute. This is a guy who's played in a number of championships and at the Olympics twice. He will be able to hold his own in the NBA until Yao comes back, where he can then bring some length and offense off the bench. The guy shot 54% 2pt and 40% from 3pt range last year! Besides, it's not like Morey gave up much to get him anyway. If he can't handle the NBA then it's no big deal, he's gone.

Lets not expect too much from David Andersen. His game will do the talking and its best that he is not pressured too much and be forced to come in right away and be the next big thing.

Hopefully Anderson can be serviceable because he's going to get a lot of minutes next year.

Tough crowd. I didn't know who Peter North was either and almost posted as such yesterday. I am glad I didn't. I am also glad I no longer go by the screen name twofister.

Just be glad you don't go by Carl. Here are two of the more printable definitions from the Urban Dictionary...
Now, we know the real Carl Herrera is not one of these. He is "Amigo" and a Rockets' legend. But someone from New York who would appropriate his name is certainly one of these or some other worse definition.

Might want to learn how to ignore people's comments if your going to respond with an ignorant comment. Saves time don't you think

Jeez, you really are slow. The word "are" is used when referencing a plural subject and not being able to spell "there" puts you on Terry Bradshaw's level. Not to mention you use "off" instead of, you know, "of." Still, I suppose it's keeping in character that you get "off" in your posts.

OK, once could be a mistake. Twice, however, is symptomatic of deeper problems. I can only come to the conclusion that you hate the letter "e" when it ends a word. I 'm not sure what childhood trauma led to this, but you can't keep blaming your parents for your lot in life. Time to confront the lingering "e" head on and get to the point where you can function in polite society.

Not referring to this post, but just curious in general, dude, what the hell happened to you? When you first broke onto the scene after the Battier trade, while I didn't agree with your stance, you were probably one of the most impressive rookie posters at any time in the history of this board. Some even speculated that you were JVG himself. Lately you've spiraled into somewhat of a caricature with your continued perpetuation of a rather peculiar homosexual shtick (you know, with the titles and stuff...). Not criticizing you at all - we've all been known to engage in juvenile antics of some sort to pass the time, more just curious as to what the hell is going on. Boredom? I don't think I can remember seeing anyone do such a complete 180 with regards to their online persona in the history of this board.

Boredom is 90% of it. It's amazing how much free time you get working for ESPN instead of coaching. No more offseason preparation makes Jeffy a dull boy.

Seriously, though: How often can one seriously respond to repeated "lets tank" posts, and "Morey, Why are you too cheap to make a 'Splash'" threads, calls for resigning Von Wafer for his upside potential, and reminders of TMac's greatness (usually posted by guys with "TMac" in their names?

It's not like I don't try, either... see my post in the most recent "we must tank" thread, looking at what teams with the worst record in the league have gotten out of their lotto picks since 1990. Most of the time, it just seems rationality is a waste of time and sarcasm is the appropriate response.

As for the post you quoted... lets note that the discussion went into the male p*rn star direction a few posts before it. What exactly is the serious basketball analytical response for a discussion that went from "Sura looks like Peter North" to "I am wary of guys who know about male p*rn stars"?

Point taken. As far as the post I quoted, my comments weren't referring to your involvement in this thread. That was only the triggering point of my query.

Anyways, I was just curious. It's become more within the framework of conventional wisdom to support Battier these days, but at the time you broke in, almost 100% of the 'establishment' (if you will) was in unanimous agreement about the folly of that trade. While I still disagree to your reasoning to this day, your defense of it at the time was one of the more impressive polemic performances I have seen on this board. So you can understand my growing curiosity in watching you metamorphosize into the strange character you seem to have become over the past year, LOL. (no offense.)

Can't wait till his massive Aussie following, at least according to the media, vaults him into the starting lineup for the Allstar game.

You work for ESPN? Man, I hope you don't have to write anything for them. No wonder they suck and are the absolute worst thing for team play and fundamentals. Must feel good being part of the decline of American sport.

And I guess you are so bored that you have to go around insulting people? Pathetic.

I am guessing the reading comprehension section of standardized tests is not a strong suit for you. Just a hunch.

On the contrary, I scored in the 99th percentile on the GRE. Everything I do is for a purpose. You, on the other hand, can't help but pollute the site with repeated evidence of your subpar grammatical knowledge and spelling proficiency... not to mention that your abysmal intellect is constantly on display.

All I ask for is a simple apology and you rhetorically spit in my face. Then you try to insult me with your snappy reading comprehension zinger. It would be funny if it weren't so pathetic.
