Yeah, but what I find funny here is that the guys are horrified with this "update" are still saying we'll be ok without him. Er, no and no.
Well we definitely need T-mac to win a title. No question about it. But I will say that our season doesn't automatically go down the toilet if he misses a dozen games (regular season) or so.
here is the obligatory... Sura faints. on no, Tmac. say it aint so! as much as the Rox need Yao to get to the promised land, the team is nothing, i tell you nothing without Tmac. okay, i embellish somewhat, but the Rox are lottery without Tmac. they would be like Minnesota, or either L.A. team. just one quasi-superstar (KG, Kobe, Brand, Yao), a bunch of role players (Szserbiak, Jaric, Hudson; Odom, George, Mckie; Maggette, Cuttino, Cassell; Juwon, DA, Wesley)and unfulfilled potential (Griffin, Kandi, Tskitishvili; Kwame, Mihm; Livingston, Kaman; Stromile, Rafer). Yao would have to explode, and not like a watermelon.
I say a lot of optimistic things, but WOW! That tops the cake. Anyways, this isn't the kind of thing I wanted to hear from our team 2 days before the opening night.
didnt he say this in the chronicle yesterday?...he said it usually happens to him every year and that he just needs rest to heal...he said it was better that it happened during pre season too than late in the year...hopefully it didnt get worse when he woke up today
T-mac needs to get rid of some weight. That's what's causing his knee condition. he put on weight in the offseason, now when he hits the ground after skiing in the air, those tendons are being exposed to an additional 100 lbs of force and stress. He should go on a diet and get back down to 210. He plays way to athelticly to be more then that. I mean Jordon in his prime was 190 right?
no... Jordan in his prime (championship years) was listed as 215-220. incidentally, both Pippen and Jordan were heavier than Rodman. those two were heavily muscled. Jordan was famous for only having 1% body fat or something ridiculous. the difference is that Jordan, like Malone, Stockton, Reggie Miller, and Gary Payton were iron men that never seemed to break down.
Doesn't tendonitis happen most often when you are increasing your activity? I guess T-mac didn't run enough in the offseason and he got weaker, so the sudden intense stress of training camp set this off? If he can keep it from getting worse, shouldn't he get accustomed to the hard work again?
although seriously was reading up on this mysterious phenomenom and says there are some power anti-inflammatory meds out there? would those help an nba player that grinds it out 35 (hopefully this season) minutes a game or so for 75+ games? or is rest the only option for athletes?
I worry that we overly Depend on T-Mac Folx .. YAO IS GOOD I think they team we have could make the Playoffs without Make True we maybe fighting the clippers for the 8th spot but I just don't see the Rockets not winning 41 games Even without T-Mac Rocket River
This could be a blessing in disguise, granted this is just tendonitis. It will give our other players, namely Head and Swift, more playing time, giving them more real NBA minutes in the Rockets' system. TMac's minutes will be reduced, no doubt, but he will be there at the end of games when we need him until he feels ready to play his 30-35 a game.
That is a very good point. If they get significant minutes, especially in crunch time, down the stretch, that should give them more confidence heading into the playoffs and give us more weapons to utilize. Let's hope DA can stay healthy as well.
610 this morning had some guy call in and talk about something they sell at Fiesta stores that would help T-Mac's tendinitis. They talked about it a lot with John and Lance this morning
i don't think TMac will be ready by Wednesday. he'll probably just reaggravate his knee. the Rockets can probably win Saturday's game against the Hornets without TMac as well. so he should just sit out until next Tuesday against Orlando at the earliest. no one ever heals up by playing.
