(Fox 26) Texans reached verbal agreement w/ Williams

Same with me. We were going to have a dynamic offense. Now we have a player who takes off on plays.

Everytime I see that boob Charlie Casserly on tv, I just want to slap him. I hope Bush and Young dominate the Texans everytime they play. I hate this team.

 

When Vince is killing the Texans twice a year, and their number one pick defensive end is lolligaggin his way around the field people will realize that Bud Adams got over on Houston AGAIN !

Was hoping the Texans would be like a Rockets org committed to championships and not passing-up the likes of Hakeem or Yao in the draft, instead its like the [insert your favorite reliable losers here].

 

Well, at least the argument that Houstonians aren't "passionate" is being exposed as false by this thread.

I also think its kinda cool how there's yet another way to link the "rivalry" with the Titans (that's pretty much based on everything BUT how the teams play each other on the field).

I do hope Kerry Collins is a good mentor for VY... cause McNair aint gonna be there no more.

 

Yeah I absolutely have to admit that I want to see Vince trash the Texans (at least once).

Mario is no Bowie, but I think Sleepy Sam Perkins is a nice comparison.

 

i'm becoming more and more disappointed with it. not taking vy..not taking reggie. yeah, yeah...i know they weren't gonna take vy because they have the legendary david carr in the stable.

but it lacks imagination. it lacks vision. it lacks excitement. hopefully mario is all they say he will be. there is no sure thing, anywhere..that much is sure!

Same here -- I really wanted Vince (1) or Reggie (2) and if not one of two then trade down and fill the biggest hole on the team (the O-line) with Brickshaw.

The Texans could just leave the d*mn State. We don't need any half-ass losers here that are just going to torture us. I just cannot believe that they are so inept...that $$$ didn't play a big part of the decision...I mean, why not even trade down for depth? Because more first rounders will cost just a much money as Bush would have?

I've always wondered what it would feel like to get kicked in the gut by 2 people at the same time and that's what today feels like. I didn't mind not taking VY, he needs time to develope and Bush is the better prospect right now and would contribute immediately. But to pass on Bush and then see VY get snatched up by Bud Adams, it's too much to bear. The last 24 hours have been the worst in Houston sports history.

 

I've admitted on here a couple of times that I know squat about football. That said, in my opinion, the Texans have brought this upon themselves. Through media manipulation they were able to convince the majority of the city that no matter how good he was in the Rose Bowl, VY wasn't the top player in the draft, Reggie Bush was. They didn't hype anyone else. The media has made it sound like these two guys, Bush and Young, are two of the best prospects not only to come out in this year's draft, but to be the best two prospects to come along in a very long time. They should have had their spin control on a long time ago to include a couple of other guys such as Williams and D'Brickshaw in that group with Bush and Young in case something like what happened happened.

It sounds to me like basically they got tired of talking to Reggie's agents. They kept on pushing to get him a better deal, and finally Kubiak and McNair had enough and got a deal done with Williams. Just my opinion, but I don't see any other way we don't take Bush. I honestly believe that his agents screwed him out of being the 1st pick and several millions of dollars (not that Bush isn't still going to be RICH.)

Now granted, CC did mention that they might consider taking someone other than VY or RB. What I don't understand is if they were serious at the time, why they didn't get the hype machine behind it, and I think that's what's leaving people now scratching their heads.

 

I haven't read much of this thread so I don't know if it has been gone over yet but could we possibly have taken Williams to maybe then trade him?

That is prob not an understatement. A chance to turn around the franchise becomes a historic, colossal embarassment.
