Actually, about the last 2 months of the season, no. I had them all on Tivo, so if I watched them at all, it was to zip through them looking for interesting plays. Generally it was wasted effort.

That said, the Rockets with TMac and Yao healthy is in no way comparable to the Texans going into next season with the same offensive personnel that they had last year.

This was the draft that even the Texans couldn't possibly screw up.

And they found a way to screw it up.

    i think this is hilarious.

i'm seeing lots of people who called out the VY crowd now saying they wished they didn't have tix...they were moving on.....cursing the Texans. that's just classic.

i'm thinking bush's value isn't nearly as high as ESPN would like you to believe. the hype machine was in full effect.

the texans just addressed possibly their biggest need. but i'm too busy laughing about it to care.

I think that some people are taking this way too far.

Bush was not going to come in here and set the offense on fire, if anything he was another threat that would help open up the passing game, which in turn would open up the running game and Putzier would be a safety valve at TE. Not taking Bush does not mean that the Texans' offense is going to be stagnant like last season, Kubiak is going install his offensive scheme.

I'm still a little shocked over the selection and its been five hours since I found out. Williams will hopefully come in here and anchor a hard-hitting, pass-rushing, run-stuffing defense that will come up and pop people in the mouth. The Texans have made their pick and I'll learn to accept it.

By the way, I wonder what was the hold up with Bush and his contract details. If Bush would have agreed earlier this week, would Williams be our pick or would we be celebrating Reggie Bush as our pick?

They are saying on 610 that Reggie's agent is saying that Reggie will take the stance that he will not play for the Saints.

Edit: That is according to sources

Why not? If I was an NFL player I'd love to go to NO. To be the guy who helps rebuild a franchise and city would be great.

Even before all of this drama, I said on this board that I want Mario. However, I don't know if I want him at # 1. I have to admit that I too was damn excited at seeing Reggie dominating on the field for the Texans.

I just hope our fans don't boo this kid tomorrow. He doesn't deserve it. Similarly, I hope fans don't bail on the team because of Mama Cass.

My final thought of the night.. the Saints will make out like bandits tomorrow and I hate Tony Banks for his interception against SF. We could have had Mario at #2. If NO would have taken him at #1, then we would have had Reggie.

    Good night.

He's going to force a trade to NY or SF... just like he wanted all along, and just like ESPN is hoping for.

I hope he does go to NY... its the only place where the hype surrounding this guy could get even bigger.

When I heard the news I was pissed off. I hope Williams turns out to be a hell of a player cause everytime I see Bush or Young on Sportscenter I'm gonna cry.

It'll be the Eagle fans reaction to the drafting of McNabb over Ricky Williams all over again.

Adn Im pretty sure drunk angry Texans can be just as rowdy as Philly fans so the Texans might want to cancel that draft party.

So, in 2005, the Texans had:

    The 31st ranked defense

    The 32nd ranked rush defense

    The 24th ranked pass defense

    The 32nd ranked scoring defense

    The 30th ranked passing offense

    AND

    The 15th ranked rushing offense

The 11th ranked Yards per Carry (better than anyone else in the division) .

And the way to not screw up the draft was running back.

    I guess I don't understand football.

I like the pick, football games are won in the trenches.... Carr over Peppers should have taught us that.

WINNING IS THE SEXIEST DRAFT PICK!!!!

One thing I've noticed about Reggie during his interviews and such, but didn't want to say it before, was that he really didn't seem all that enthusiastic about the Texans (maybe deservedly so, with our team last year)...but wanted the #1 pick, probably for the money.

I hate to speculate, but that's the way it seems. Now that he can't be the #1 pick he wants to pick his team.

Fake fans? We all want whats best for this team, moves that will give the Texans the BEST chance for improvement. I don't know how anyone can say that Williams can have more of an impact over Reggie Bush. I've was a fan of the Texans long before I even knew who Reggie Bush even was. Texans have not only shocked Houston, they shocked the rest of America with this one. This move was anything but logical.

Ding ding ding! Post of the year. We have a voice of reason.

I'm glad somebody else here is sane and doesn't go to football games to see our team lose while the HB makes a few spectacular plays (See Barry Sanders). Not saying Bush will be a perennial loser, but if he is on winning teams it won't be all because of him...it won't even be half because of him.

... And the bigger the ego, the harder the fall, especially when the NY media is involved.

    Great post, mrpaige!

He's referring to the people who said they were going to be interested in the Texans after they drafted Bush... but since they decided to go another way, they're no longer going to be fans.

    Those are fake fans.
