I wonder if he's going to fire his agent.

That sums it up for me. I wanted the Texans to get Young, but Bush was an amazing consolation prize. Now we end up with neither? Simply stunning. I feel sorry for Williams, because he really will have to be an LT caliber player for the fans to accept this. Gigantic PR blunder.

    This sucks.

We do not want fake fans like these.

We want fans that stand by their team. Don't we all love coach Cube? Well this is the man he wanted all along. Lets not be RBOF and VYOF and forget that this is about a team - THE HOUSTON TEXANS.

Oh btw, thanks Nick for being a voice of reason in time of need.

Kudos also to Bob McNair, Kubiak and CC for making a pick that is not sexy and ESPN approved but one that is logical, prudent wise and centered.

    Now KUMBAYA time.... :)

As I have previously stated, "the Texans always seem to leave me disappointed on draft day". It never fails. They are a terrible franchise for a reason. They just don't get it.

    I believe your right Slowly-D

But it will be to Reggie Bush unfortunately.

I dont want to wish the kid bad or anything but running backs of his style, with that "stop on a dime" hesitation fake move, followed by a sudden burst of speed.....that puts a lot of pressure on knees.

Mark my words, its only a matter of time before Bush blows out one of his knees.....a la Willis McGahee. The important thing here is how he will bounce back.

And BTW, I would have felt the same way if the Texans would have chosen Bush.

Rovell said he had heard a rumor that Reggie was considering firing his agent earlier in the week (before all of this) but that it was proven unfounded.

All in all, Reggie's attempt at getting big money might cause him to lose money....unless he goes to the Jets, where he can capitalize on that New York market with even more advertising deals then the ones he currently has with Subway, for instance.

And i am saying we didnt need him to be an every down back, DD can carry a huge load, lets not forget our Pepsi rookie of the year, but Bush can play in so many different sets, could be a special teams guy too(actually i cant believe i am not thinking about jerome mathis right now)and maybe he doesnt fit in to Kubes system, maybe that is why we are passing, i dont know, and frankly dont care anymore, im just going to sit back and watch what happens. What makes me so mad, is that this guy is a little overhyped and everyone refuses to see it, he is not undersized i apologize for that comment, i was just thinking about the fact of him being targeted every game by O-Line, but if big bear, and T johnson can hold up there, but Mario is not a run stopping guy, at all, and if you remember we were 32nd in the league in run defense last year, and realize that is dead last. one amazing pass rusher is not going to make our team a contender, he is especially not worth that much money, give me an effing break

Casserly - anyone want to bet hard currency that after he is gone from the Good Guys will spin this pick his way? If it works out it was his call. If it doesn't it was Kubiak or McNair.

Chuckie will spin this, he will. He will.

And, as I asked before, if five teams are positioning for a trade to get Bush why couldn't Le Charles have effected a trade and still gotten Super Mario? He didn't. He didn't.

I agree with you Big Ben

If we had selected Bush, we could have followed USC's game plan of a one two punch of Bush/White with our own one two punch of Bush/Davis. Bush would have been a great weapon as a thrid option receiver to compliment Johnson and Moulds as well.

But in the end, Defense can get you places. The 2005 Bears had the worst offense Ive ever seen for a division winner...given in a weak divison. But their defense won them games and got them to the playoffs and home field advantage.

Good point man, but i just dont want people to read into this guy too much, a defensive end can only make an impact if he has dominating health, and the julis peppers comparision is a little misleading, because when he lost, i think it was jenkins, DT right next to him, his production dropped dramatically.

Yep true, defense is a team effort. I dont expect Mario to be a one man show. Not even Ray Lewis, Brian Urlacher, Bruce Smith, LT, AJ Hawk ....none of these guys merit one-man show. It doesnt exist on defense....its all team effort.

But like Lewis and others, I expect Mario to be that important "pass rusher" piece of the puzzle, along side Antwan Peak, to building the next great defense.

I guess now people can't say "they always do what's safe".

I know brotha but they are talking about this guy like he is a one man show, like he himself is going to make our defense elite, i dont want to start building a defense with the #1 pick in the most talented draft in years, and i dont know much about his run stopping ability, which makes me nervous

I mean, we didn't really need Reggie Bush or Vince Young, so I guess I'm alright with it. We don't really need a defensive end too insanely bad, but it's definitely a greater weakness than running back or quarterback.

But still, since we passed on Reggie Bush, Vince Young, and assuredly many other pro-bowlers, this guy better be at least (AT THE VERY LEAST) better than Julius Peppers.

This is what we need on defense. A face of the defense. We have someone the other team will actually fear on defense now. I guess Jamie Sharper's the closes we've ever come to that, and this is definitely an upgrade.

It's all good if Mario Williams will be as good as Hakeem. Unlikely.

Good point, our defense has no identity, maybe now we can be feared as a great pass rushing d
