Williams is going to be the Randy Moss of DEs. Bank on it. Someday he's gonna let it slip like on Quite Frankly with Stephen A. "Why should I play hard on every down?"

This thread is hilarious......and also a testament to the mind controlling power the media has on the general public...

I am kind of indifferent on this. If the DE is a terror on the field then thats great. If not just remember that the draft is always a crap shoot...

Excuse me, but LT's Super Bowl teams had good OFFENSES as well.

Question for you: Which team would you bet gets to a Super Bowl first: The Texans, or whatever team drafts Bush?

With Bush, this team could have gone from being one of the worst offenses in history to being something actually dangerous on every play.

What good will it do for this team to be somewhat better defensively if they remain just as inept offensively as they were last year?

Also, there is more than one good-to-great pass-rushing defensive player in this draft, even ones they could have picked up in Rd 2. But there is only one Reggie Bush.

And, as a little cherry on top, now we're not only going to have VY gunning for Texans blood every time he plays us, but now also Bush will want to kill us every time too, for robbing him of that #1 Draft Pick thing he was so into.

    Bah.

This is not just bad. This is miserable, bad-dream bad.

And I am not even particularly a Texans fan. I can only imagine what those die-hard season-ticket-holders must be thinking about now.

Hey, anyone need a job? I bet the Texans will be in need of some new ticket-sales people, as the ones they had probably all just quit.. ;)

AGREED BIG TIME!!!! This team has alot of needs, especially on the DE side! I really like this pick & it just make sense as of now. I think there will be some nice backs out there in the later rounds. Koach Kubes has spoken! Remember the Broncos can find backs like no other team to fit their scheme. ;) Super Mario I think will be a beast!!! They can put Weaver on the other side to pancake the opp QB :D ! This def line now looks really nice. Payton, Rothlessburger, McNair, Carson Palmer, & co better watch out becuz their's a new sheriff in town! ;) Defense is what what makes CHAMPIONSHIPS, the Steelers proved it, the Ravens, the '85 Bears, etc., the list goes on! GO TEXANS!!

The Giants' O was pedestrian. Effective but pedestrian.

If The Saints or Jets or GB or Raiduhs gets Reg - gie then Texans are equally likely, or moreso even, than they.

BTW - W's = ticket sales. Need proof? Dial Lesley Alexander.

ESPN News is running an earlier interview of Casserly w/ Rachel Nichols. He said they want to build a defense because defense wins championships. He said Gary and him were unanimous in picking Mario Williams. The war room was split. They made the decision in the last 24 hours. He thinks Mario Williams will be an outstanding player for our team's future.

    Dumbass...

Yea.... so good that they were led by their backup QB to their second SB championship. Lets just forget the fact that they never beat Super Joe and the 49ers if LT doesn't knock him out of the NFC championship game.

So just cool it... I'm not saying Mario Williams is LT... but the offensive-centric mindset has to cool it. I thought that would happen after we all saw how the Colts burned down in flames last year, and virtually nobodys like Tom Brady end up forming dynasties.

Oh btw, the odds are against Bush to live up to the hype, even if he was on the Texans... he's just got a ton of expectations that are hard to acheive in the TEAM sport of the NFL.

So um, what was the point in tanking all those games. Seems to me that the Texans are paying #1 money for a guy that would have been avaliable at #3 or #4.

WOW. Just wow. I'm fine with them deciding to take Mario, but #1? Talk about not maximizing the value of the pick. The Texans really better hope this works out and Mario is a stud.

They're paying #1 money for a guy who was going to go #2.

I like Mario williams and believe he could be a great player, however what i fail to understand is that couldnt we have traded down a couple of spots to say the Jets and gotten a couple of extra picks which we could have used to fill many other holes on this team.

I think Mario is a great pick just not at No. 1. I hope Casserly or Kubiac know what they are doing. After the dismal season last year, the only thing that kept me excited was the no 1 pick and from the looks of it thats gone now.

Is this final? Since he has signed does that mean we cant trade that pick? Why would we sign him now, we could have agreed to terms and not sign till after the draft.......that way we could have leveraged our pick and might have been able to trade it.

Im at loss for words...........

I'm pretty sure thats exactly what they're hoping for... and the fact that the Saints were going to take him at #2 is why they didn't have that "trade partner".

My only regret is that all of "this" is not over... there will be non-stop b****ing and complaining all the way till whenever the season starts. At least with Bush being picked, the VY supporters would have slowly withered away, and people would have started focusing on the season... now, the talk will be about everything but.

If he's as good as Moss was during his rookie year, even you will forget about this statement.... Moss only started whining after he shut up and paid his dues and established himself as a bonafied superstar.

Not if NOLA got the first pick, which would have happened if the Texans won an extra game and got into a tie with the others. The Saints would have most likely gone Bush or trade, while the Titans seem determined to grab a QB. I don't remember if Houston would have been 3rd or 4th in this scenario, but either way, Williams would likely have been "getable" at either spot.

But like others have said, the biggest mistake that Texans are making isn't in drafting Mario, it's that they aren't maximizing the #1 pick.

Well they are changint to a 4 > 3 defense and need some good linemen. And they are thinking he could be a DE or a DT or even slide back into LB coverage in some schemes. That makes him pretty versatile on the defensive end. And the guy is 6'-7" and 290 lbs

This thread is gonna be full of clutch moments when Reggie Bush turns out to be a flop in the NFL. No VY is a player, not sure if he will be an NFL star but only time willl tell the story...
