Exellent signing by the Texans IMO. Super Mario is a beast, and defense was definately our biggest priority. Sad to see Bush go, but we have to address the real team needs first. Cant wait to see this guy get on the field and destroy QB's.

Because they still wanted Williams, and he would have been gone with the very next pick.

I understand that Bush probably didn't want to come here... but I would figure he'd simply try the prima-donna tactics of Elway and E. Manning if he wanted to go somewhere else (then again, he won't be getting first pick money from anybody else).

So now we have, what, 4 defensive tackles, one end and some converted linebackers?

DE wasn't a need wither. We got a DE in the 1st round last year...You'll probably forgot that sh!++y pick though.

We can get quality tackles in the second and third rounds though, we can't get good pass rushers there.

    He already did the interview.

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=112226

    Interview below:

Money was NOT an issue. Both were very signeable.

Told Williams he was the guy in the last 24 hours.

Williams fills a MUCH greater need.

Thinks Bush will be a dynamic player but harder to find a great DE in the league. (just like he brought up in the morning about the Colts' decision between Edge and Freeney)

Mentioned Bush may not playing X amount of plays a game (just like he did this morning).

Williams 6'7 with 40' vertical, same as Bush who is much smaller.

They thought Williams was right with Bush as the best player in the draft.

He is excited about Houston, a good character guy and is a hard worker. Reminds him of how Andre Johnson goes about things and loves football.

Says if anyone doesn't like the pick, blame him and not Mario.

Reminds him very much of Julius Peppers.

Quality DE is going to have a big impact on the football team.

    Switching to a 4-3, they lacked DE's.

I hear ya ... I was more making a joke about it. I do think they should have taken Bush, but I'm not "as" down as others. If Mario Williams is really going to be a force at the DE position, then I think you can debate that a guy like that will have more impact than a Reggie Bush. Hard to say, but if the Texans bolster their defense among the league's elite, you already know Kubiak and Sherman will have the offense ready.

I did like the thought of seeing Carr-Bush-Davis-Johnson-Moulds-Putzier though. The Texans don't have an "identity player" on the offensive end still.

Great thread though ... a lot of fun to read. It's nice to not have to wade through posts of:

"You don't like Williams? Huh? HUH? HUH?! Then trade him to the RAIDERS!"

Payne will be cut I predict now and Peek and Babin battle for the end postion. Peek is a good player. He had 8 sacks last year in his first year starting. Babin is joke and CC screwed up there.

According to Sal Paolantonio of ESPN, Jets, Raiders, Cardinals, 49ers and one other team (he didn't say) are interested in NO's pick.

Should have drafted Peppers his first year then so we could have drafted VY this season.

I would be utterly shocked if Reggie is not a 49er when all the dust settles.

I doubt NO trades the pick. They have Deuce but he is always injured. They also need a face to the team and Bush will be that.

Alex Smith and Reggie Bush together again. That would be pretty amazing.

So why couldn't that been our pick that those teams are clamoring for, I just don't get that...Were we and the Saints that hard up for Mario that picking Bush and dangling him to the Saints for their pick and extras would have been no good...
