So, my sig bet goes away, neither Bush nor Young was picked....ah well at least a tie is better than a loss.

The losing will be all the Texans do for the next few years.

I find all of this laughable. First off, I have never really been a Texans fan. I think I've only seen one full game (initial preseason victory over the Cowgirls). I don't feel much of a connection to the Texans, and I think the franchise has blown it's chance to get fans like me. With that being said, I'm sure the franchise will be successful and fill the seats as long as they win.

The idiotic moves of this franchise should make us appreciate our favorite team (Rockets) even more. We all b**** a lot about the moves they make, but I can't really think of too many "we all knew that was idiotic" moves that the franchise has made, and every time they had a real high pick (say top 3) they delivered.

It wasn't about money, we offered Williams more than we offered Bush.

We couldn't trade down because the Saints were going to pick Williams at #2.

I kinda get where you're coming with this analogy, but then I get lost... IIRC, Williams was a much safer, sexier, and consensous pick than Yao at the time, despite his lack of size, and him screwing up royally in his team's post-season (ie - Reggie Bush).

Then again, Yao was pretty popular too... and was touted as somebody that could change the game, if he adapted to the league well (ie - Vince Young?).

In the end, the Texans could be picking this draft's version of Amare Stoudamire... a physical beast that came out of nowhere.

Saints | Team may want to trade down now; but can they find a partner
    Fri, 28 Apr 2006 18:20:50 -0700

Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports the New Orleans Saints are enamored with USC RB Reggie Bush, even though they didn't visit with him in person before the NFL Draft. Bush could go anywhere from No. 2 to the Saints or No. 4 to the New York Jets. The Saints said Friday, April 28, they would entertain trade offers for their No. 2 spot and the right to draft Bush. However, no team approached the Houston Texans with an offer to trade up for Bush at No. 1, so it might be hard to envision a team trading up to No. 2 to get Bush there.

When was the last defensive player picked #1 overall...I'm all for getting a player signed ASAP and no holdouts but not at the cost of drafting potentials busts/disappointments over franchise gamebreakers/studs.

Love this signing. Defense wins championships. Texans D-Line now is going be very good. Kubiak knows how to win super bowls and he wanted Williams. Boo Mario all you want like Eagles fans did with McNabb, but you will be cheering him in September. Go Texans.

Yeah, it was really sad how we fans were polarized into two venom spewing factions. Now, thanks to the Texans, we're all united again...we all wholeheartedly agree that the Texans are idiots! :D :(

Alot more recently than the last RB drafted #1... but both were busts (Courtney Brown and KiJana Carter, I believe).

I dunno, IMO, if the Texans were going to go for neither Bush nor Young, I think D'Brickashaw Ferguson would've been a more valuable player for the team.

Amare wasn't picked #1 overall...therefore bypassing the scrutiny that comes along with it.

Yeah, and like Stoudemire, he will get injured and Yao Ming (Bush or Young in this case) will end up being better than him.

I remember the assumption on Houston sports radio being that the elimination of the previous coaching system meant that the new regime would focus on offense this time around. Casserly just said on the radio that being in the same division as the Colts means that we can't hope to outgun P. Manning. Casserly's logic thus follows that we just have to stop him instead. I don't know if he's been watching the same Manning as I have.

Trust me, Mario Williams is a beast who will only get better. Bush is great but he wasn't a need, DD is good and Vernond Mornecy and Wells are good backups.

    LMAO!

Is that the headline in the 31 other NFL hometown papers? Perhaps all 32?

Weaver will move to DT where he belongs now. I never thought Weaver of being a DE.
