Mario Williams signed a six-year, $54 million deal with Houston.

so what in the world do we do with Peek AND Babin? Mario sure as hell better not be splitting time. And shoot, Weaver shouldn't split much, though I guess he can move inside some.

hell. someone figure some way out of this mess by tomorrow morning at noon.

I'm happy with drafting Willaims. At #1? Maybe a slight reach there but, as a player and what he could potentially bring to the team now and the future, I think it's a good player to bring aboard.

With Young and Bush in the draft, I didn't think Texans could do wrong. But, as usual, they did. I should have saw this coming with the stupid extension to Carr.

Nobody can be happy because about 97% of the people here have never seen Williams play... and about 75% of the people here dont think defense was a priority for this team (when it was).... and about 50% of the people here were likely only going to follow the team if they had drafted Bush or VY anyways.

So, my guess is there's probably 2 or 3 guys who are just overjoyed right now, but they're not gonna come on here and post that.

You, KAS, and Mr. PredIC2Ktion have been officially pwned by Chaz Casserole.

Now, let the two warring sides reunite and begin the long (long, long, long) healing process. Who's up for singing a little Kumbaya?

Texans | More on Williams' deal; not signed yet
    Fri, 28 Apr 2006 18:14:30 -0700

Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports the contract agreed to by DE Mario Williams with the Houston Texans has not been signed yet. Williams' agents are examining the actual contract and taking a detailed look at its language. The deal is a five-year contract with an option for a sixth worth $54 million that could go well over $60 million provided that Williams performs at a certain level.

Williams is a great prospect. He fills a bigger need. Best choice on many levels.

Does it really matter? They were part of the core of the worst defense in the NFL last year.

OK, how would anyone feel if they traded up and got DeAngelo Williams as well?

Mario Williams and DeAngelo Williams would be a great 1st round for the team!

I'd be perfectly happy with this pick...if they'd traded down and got Mario plus something else out of it. Taking him first is flat out stupid. Just trade the pick and get something extra if you don't want to pay a back that kind of money.

I'm just pissed to see them not maximize having the first pick.

A slight reach. This guy wasn't on the radar until about a month ago. People started talking and Texans went with the minority.

This whole situation is kind of weird...look at this...

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2424883

Course that probably only means the family issue had nothing to do with the Texans not signing him.

Its not out of the realm of possibility that Team Bush wanted some extra compensation in their deal, to recover some of these anticipated losses... either that, or Team Bush really doesn't want to go to Houston, and forced the Texans hand not to pick him.
