I agree, i think he'd be great for Luther Head, like to Deke for Yao- What's wrong with having GP on the team? We won 51 last year, if i'm correct we won't lose any players to get payton so whats the harm? We could be looking at 55-57 wins and the 4th seed (stupid spurs) I think adding GP would be a good fit, then ship off another guard for one of those 2/3 swingman guys everyone here is talkin about...

to you Gary Peyton lovers... you guys remember that TWO YEARS ago he was sitting on the bench in the 4th quarter of the Finals because he could shoot and was getting OWNED by the likes of Mike James and Chauncy Billups !!!?!?

    two years ago !!!

did you people watch any Boston games this season... ?!!? he is beyond finished, at least Damon can still drop 50 on someone, and NVE can bring some energy

Peyton, was sitting on the bench in the 4th quarter of game 7 this season watching an undermanned Pacer team blow the Celts out ... AT BOSTON

According to Andre Barrett Charlie Ward could fill that role.

Well I do expect a lot of this in the preseason. However, I don't think fans of other teams know the extent of how rabid the cancerous influences were on our team:

Bonzi Wells - Had the audacity to state in his SacTown presser that he did not know what went wrong with the Fratello. Bonzi, maybe it is the fact that in Fratello 2nd game when you were taken out in the 4th quarter, you came to the bench and loudly stated (loud enough to be heard in the stands) 'Somebody better tell this [MF] not to take me out in the 4th quarter' and then tossed your headband in his direction.

J Will - who also claims ignorance. After a win, decided to stand up in the lockerroom with reporters present and hit Fratello with a profanity laced tirade about his playing time. When Fratello told him he was going to be fined $5K for the outburst, J Will followed up with '[MF] Fine me $10K, I don't give a F.'

Posey - Beloved by Memphis fans. He decided 20 more pounds of fat would be good for training camp. Then proceeded to get hurt and start b****ing when he could not get his starting position back.

Now 2 games before Hubie retired, these 3 were upset about their minutes. Hubie subbed them back into the game and they just dogged it to the point that Hubie turned to the bench and said ' I can't believe they are just not going to play.'

Swift - This fine fellow milked some of the most trivial injuries ever. 2 or 3 scrathed corneas, a mild ankle sprain that took 6 weekes to heal. He waited over 2 weeks after the doctors cleared him to return. His reason: I won't have the lift to play my game. Keep in mind Pau was hurt during this time and Swift did not come back until Pau rushed back to the court.

So, as a Grizzlies fan, I am happy all 4 of these guys are gone. They might blossom with their new team but they were killing us...slowly but surely.

Maybe he was just too lazy to make major changes to his acceptance speech prepared for Rockets. ;)

So what about Chauncey owning Tony Parker in the finals? Any guard who has Shaq involved in a pick and roll is going to get rolled on because shaq doesn't even show. What about Marbury owning Parker. Nash owning every pg in the league? Its not a 1 on 1 battle, its a team defense philosophy. By that case, look how Boston struggled when Payton missed a few games or was traded. If he comes in and play solid defense, puts up 11 and 6 and shoots 46%fg in about 30 mins, what wrong with that? When you only have limited funds like the Rox now, you have to get players that are still good and productive for cheap. How quickly people forget how well the lakers of 2 yrs ago was playing before mailman got hurt and noone talked about Payton balling then. If the Rox can win 51 with sura at the point, they cant do better with Payton?

Not to mention that Gary payton would have alot more to teach a young defensive minded rookie like Luther than charlie ward could (no disrespect to ward). But GP was on the all defensive first team for eight consecutive seasons not to mention winning the defensive player of the year award which is a huge deal for a point guard-he'd bring nothing but positives..
