Rox took forever to sign someone after losing 2 games we needed another center, and we get this guy. O well he is better than anything, hope he can shoot a 5 footer.

I'll be honest, I don't know much about the guy. I am VERY familiar with his name though.

See, in NBA 2K5-7 (a basketball video game), I always picked Loren Woods up to backup Yao. He was young, cheap, and had above average blocking and rebounding skills. He was actually a great pickup on the game.

    Let's hope this translates...

A Loren Wood highlight video is rumored to be floating out there. The man plays like a beast when he puts his mind to it.

The semiconductor chip in your video game is more cerebrally advanced than Loren Woods. Think Stromile Swift after downing 15-20 shots of tequila.

I saw that video. The "save the best for last" highlight was a rebound...

This guy was a beast in college. From what I remember he's a pretty good shot blocker (although, I don't know how that translated to the NBA). I always rooted for him cuz I liked his play in college.

At least we get a big body. We are sorely missing that right now. If he plays halfway decently, he'll get minutes.

This doesn't mean Mike Harris is out, does it? I've seen enough from Harris to lock him up for a year or two.

It's even more amazing that his name isn't "Wood"... LOLZLZZZ!!!111

Seriously, I remember Loren tearing up Battier in the Final Four. Am I mistaken or didn't he have some mental problems/nervous breakdown or something similar? I thought there was some big non-basketball story about him...

Ya'll quoting stats do realize that he averaged less than 12 minutes a game for his career.

'um he just couldn't make it in the NBA, he really hasn't come back here (Tucson) to do much. I dunno. He and Simon really surprised me at how they really didn't make an impact in the league. I know his name is Woods, but LWood sounds so much cooler, plus innuendos role so much smoother with Wood.

Same here and I don't think we are alone.

The Rockets only employ doctors that graduated from Amish medical school.

Consider Mutombo may retire after the season, we also need a useful guy when Yao is back.

    2ppg 3rpg...

    The guy is so temporarily.

You got a better memory than me. Why would Battier be on Woods? Why wouldn't Boozer guard him? Seems Battier would take Richard Jefferson in that game, unless Dunleavy did, I guess.

    Here's a fun thread: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/archive/index.php/t-15958.html

DoD has a pretty impressive memory. I remember watching the game too (and a lot of Woods that season), and I really wanted to see something out of him, but didn't remember Battier guarding him. According to this article, http://www.amarillo.com/stories/040301/spo_woodsplays.shtml, DoD is right -- Battier guarded Woods.

Woods was a freshman on Wake Forest when Duncan was a senior. He couldn't take the pressure of being Duncan's replacement, so he transferred to Zona. That's pretty much been his M.O. -- he's a mental midget with all the physical talent in the world. I can't believe he turns 30 in three months.
