I seriously doubt it. They have virtually no tradeable assets left. Luther Head and next years draft pick are pretty much all they have to offer. And if you give up Luther you're still not helping your depth at all.

Banks remains an option

The Cavs are still maintaining interest in free-agent point guard Marcus Banks. Banks' options have been limited, as three teams that were in contact with him -- the Los Angeles Lakers, the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Atlanta Hawks -- have gone in different directions by picking up point guards or using cap space. But it doesn't seem as if anything is imminent in Cleveland.

``We're not talking much about it right now; the Cavs have some other priorities to deal with,'' Banks' agent, Michael Higgins, said Thursday. ``Marcus is interested in the Cavs; he likes Mike (Brown).''

Banks averaged 10 points and 3.8 assists with Boston and Minnesota last season.

If I were Luther- I would pray to be traded from the Rockets

 

No ! Some years ago they could have been described as similar. Padgett is now at the scrub level and was unable to get much playing tome with his last team.

 

i'm all for signing banks.

he can really pressure the ball, which every good team needs from a PG.

we'd woul'd have fixed one of our main 2 issues this summer, perimeter defense. the other problem being shooting which novak and shane are here to do.

I agree about Langhi, and cry in my pillow when I recall we traded the rights to Eduardo Najera to get him.....

Langhi did real good in the summer league games as a rookie-moved without the ball like Reggie Miller- I thought we had something special until I saw him play in a real NBA game.......

I am leary & weary of those tall shooters Rudy T liked. Tough to match for other teams, but tend to be one dimensional with no defense.....Creates a weak spot. Though PAdgett did provide more defensively than Bullard or Langhi.

Does anyone remember when Rudy suggested trying Dan Langhi at shooting guard to create matchup problems for opponents??

Is there enough open land available to grow enough herb to allow us to understand - get this concept??

Many! Like his thought as to why he likes Bowan, Padgett in his present level as a scrub is also in the same catagory of mistakes both in trading and resigning!

 

Rashad Anderson would actually not be a bad idea. That dude could fill it up from the outside in college. Unfortunately, I don't think he is much of a defender and shooting is all he can do. Else he would have been drafted.

I would rather go after Banks, Fred Jones and/or Stephen Jackson, and take a look at Rashad Anderson. Signing Padgett, I guess, wouldn't hurt if he is signed cheaply. At any rate, it is nothing to get excited about and knowing the bumbling idiots that run the Rockets, we will probably not be able to sign or acquire any of the people I have just named.

Banks is okay. Ronald "flip" murray is a castoff whose claim to fame is going off in Seattle when Ray Allen was injured. Padgett is a bench filler. He will be signed because JVG won't play novak more than 5 mins a game.

 

Marcus Banks would be a nice addition. After that the team really needs some size at SG.

I'm not totally convinced they couldn't be just as successfully going after a PF, and having T-Mac at SG and Battier at SF.

 

Is Stephen Jackson a free agent or do you mean go after him through a trade? He seems sort of nutty, but he can score, and that is what the Rockets need. I would rather have him than Murray. Getting Shane Battier, Marcus Banks, and Stephen Jackson wouldnt be a bad off season at all.

 

I don't think Jackson is a fa, but I have seen his name mentioned several times recently. And IIRC, he was always mentioned in a trade.

So we dont end up in here (^^^) the Rockets need to:

1. Split the MLE on Rasual butler and Eddie House
2. Use the $4.3 mil TE on Reggie Evans (Denver needs the relief)
3. Sign John Lucas 3 to a min. contract
4. Sign Cato for the Vet. Min.
5. Explore ANY deal for Juwan Howard (I like the Wesley/Juwan for Gooden)

 

Stephen Jackson is crazy. Did you see the Palace Brawl?? I don't know if I want that guy on the team.
