Last season the Spurs almost traded Brent Barry to New Orleans for JR Smith, so also San Antonio knows this guy is a pretty damn good player! And if they wanted to give up Barry for him, all I can say is: SIGN JR SMITH! He and McGrady on the court would give dynamite! And maby he is a pain in the ass sometimes, I really think JR would like it in Houston!

Mike Jones the rapper played for the Rockets????

Seriously though - Mike James did play for the Rockets and he has been known to score first but I think when TMac or Yao are on the bench, he should use his offense to keep us in the game because when Deke is in or TMac's replacement(?) is in, our offense goes down considerably. This is where he'd excel. Or maybe you'd rather see Rafer setting up Deke or Bowen for a 1 on 1 play or Rafer shooting 3s.

Other than lack of experience, and the JVG philosophy, what is wrong with Head?? what is keeping him on the bench??

are we going to have to send him away, let him have a breakout year, then bend over backwards to get him back??

I didn't say anything was wrong with Head. But I think JR smith is a much better prospect if he can work out in Houston. Head is an undersized shooting guard in a point guards body and he can only go so far based off of that. Smith can be a great role player because he has the size, skills, and athleticism to make a huge impact. JVG is a good motivator who is usually able to get the most out of his players, so why should JR be any different?

No, I thought Battier was supposed to be our third scorer, as well as strengthening our defensive presence.....

JVG might be the greatest coach ever, but I think it would be difficult getting us past the second round, with 2 new starters, much less 3. IMHO, if we need two or three more starters, then we aren't as close as everyone believes...

    ........................Head/Alston........ TMac..........

    ......Howard............................................... Battier.........

    ..............................Yao...............

IMHO, if we add another starter, then we aren't as close to making a push as we think.

Adding JR Smith while losing Head would be a lateral move at best. I have much more faith in Luther's chances to improve than Smith, given his great work ethic and his mental strength, and Smith's supposed lack of desire.

We need a young, quick, athletic, compact guard like Head that can chase around around the smaller quicker guards like Wade, Ray Allen, Arenas, Iverson, Jason Terry, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, etc. I'm all for adding a taller 2-guard to defend bigger swingmen like Kobe, Stackhouse, and LeBron, but not at the expense of Head.

This team is not in a position where it can continue to give up talent to get talent. We need to find a way to add talent with the trade exception and MLE, while keeping what little talent we have left.

Anybody else? According to the previous post, JVG is the prophet of motivations which is not exactly true. One exception does not make the rule.

Rockets should make Fred Jones their primary target. At the moment Rockets have no starting SG.

According to Peja's agent they tried to lowball him with their offer. For whatever reason if they're still trying to cut salary maybe Jones can be had in a S&T at the cost of a 2nd round pick? James Jones was S&T to the Suns for a 2nd round pick.

S-Jax is their starter at the 2, Jasikevicius mostly played his minutes at the 2, and they used their 17th & 31st pick on a SF & SG. I think the Rockets can get a deal done here.

I like Mike James as our primary target. I think he offers more to the team overall. However, if we could get James either by a S&T or via a trade using the Trade Exception, I would be very interested in using the MLE to make a big offer to Fred Jones that might be too rich for Indiana to want to match.

JR already lives in Houston. If I were CD I'd try to get him for a couple of second round picks a la Mike James.

Lets try to not get another undersized shooting guard.

Fred Jones might be an "undersized" SG at 6'4". But he is also 218lbs. The guy is a rock. And he has great leaping ability. He plays bigger than 6'4". Jones would be able to have the strength to bang with the bigger SGs in the West.

personally i think that the rockets should try to get mike james by sat and the TE, and then i think we should adress our power forward spot by signing Nazr Mohammed, he is a good rebounder, and is decent offensively, although he is getting older and isnt particularly athletic he still would help yao defend the paint, i think the rox should take a good look at this guy

also speedy claxton signed wit the hawks

oh yeah and if u really want an athletic power forward then consider Joel pryzbilla from portland

hes young big and his pretty athletic
hes good at dunking/rebounding and shot blocking

hes still developing and could get considerably better and turn into a more athletic version of deke although thats only if he hits his full potential

    thats just my thought though

wesley is 6-1 which is considered closer to small than big for a point guard. even at 6-1 wesley was a better defender than a 6-5 jon barry.

    6-4 isn't that undersized.
