Throughout the day, Cassell was weighing three options: a two-year, $13-million offer from Atlanta, a two-year, $11-million offer from the Clippers and a three-year, $12-million offer from Denver. Wow i just went back over and looked at Mike james stat line! It is absolutley crazy to think we will probably get gim for only the mle. I mean the guy just flat out went off and broke out last year 20ppg 6ast and he was the 4 best 3pt shooter in the entire league last year! We have to keep in mind that he will probably not score 20ppg next season but man i mean its extremely rare to find a team with 2 mid 20's scores and a 18ppg guy! We all tend to take the guy for granted but man O man homeboy can flat out ball.

 

If the team was to get speedy, would that mean Rafer is gone?

BTW, I wish, but dont see Jones leaving Indy with Peja gone, and hopefully they make the deal with James painless

 

Clippers are gonna be pretty tough next year with Cassel and Livingston in the backcourt....

We definetly need MJ to come on back to counter all the shooting these teams have in the backcourt.

Yeah, Mike James' stat last year is actually very similar to Tony Parker's. It'll be a bargain if we can get him for MLE.

 

I know it's off-topic but...

I picked the Clips to do well last season and they did. Next season may not go as well. No Radman, Sam and Cat are a year older. They better hope Livingston stays healthy and steps it up and Brand has another career type of year.

 

If we do a sign and trade for James, who would we send them?

Also, will we go after another guard or a bruising power forward with our MLE?

I can't wait to have James back on the court, with James and Battier we would have two very intense good shooters. I like the direction we are going with all the shooters to surroud the big guy with.

 

A SnT with the Raptors would give us MJ and them our $4.2MM trade exception. This way we could use the MLE on another player.

 

Unfortunately the best offer we can make is our 2007 1st round pick plus Head. Will that be enough to get James? I don't think so. I also don't want to give up next year's pick even though the management is likely to give it up for another vet player.I don't know if the 4.2 M TE will be enough to get James but who knows after all we did get him with the TE 2 years ago.

What would then be our most pressing need with the MLE?

 

He played with a chip on his shoulder all year long. The chip was the trade that sent him to Toronto. It hit him pretty hard because he had planned on staying in Houston and finishing what he/they started the previous year.

JVG and company should feel lucky that MJ doesn't hold it against us anymore and that he still wants to come back. We could use someone with a chip on his shoulder since we didn't have anyone like that until the new Yao emerged during the 2nd half of last season.

Good for Sam, he deserves it. I will always like him as a player, and like him for how he plays the game. Fun guy to watch.

 

I agree James and Shane would bring an intensity we haven't seen since Sura has been gone. Yao feeds off that.
