I think he's just hoping to land a starting role somewhere. He knows it isn't going to happen here, so he's just tossing a bone.

I hope he comes back, but if he lands a starting job somewhere I will be happy to root on his new team...

    For me to poop on!!!

    Sincerely,
    [IMG]

I wouldn't be so sure. I can see JVG re-signing him to be our 3rd PF.

I don't know why you're so sure. I don't think it's entirely out of the question for the Rockets to resign him for 10-20% increase in salary for one or two years. I don't even think it's very unreasonable.

Also, I really can't imagine he's looking for a starting job somewhere. Does anybody on this board really think he's good enough to get a starting job on any team in the league? It boggles my mind to think that a third string power forward on a league minimum contract would opt out looking for a role as a starter. I mean, maybe he's looking to become 2nd string, but a starter? He'd have to be nuts.

I think he's too one-dimensional to get starter's type minutes. Or to get starter-type bank.

    Thanks for the memories, Padgett.

Yao is also the only player on the roster that the Rockets acquired in the draft. I'm trying to think offhand if any other team has 1 or no players on their roster that they actually drafted.

Not only does Yao get boxed out by 6'5" guards, but he gets boxed out by his own point guard :D

Wow  !! I didn't see this one coming. Great character guy but no way is he worth more than what he stood to make this year. His career was basically over before JVG helped him resurrect it here in H town. He ouldn't even stay employed on a rebuilding Jazz team. Remember where you came from Padgett?? Average help defender at best, average rebounder at best, basically this team's Matt Bullard (thats being nice). Thanks Scott, and CD if he resigns here... it better be for less t$$ han he opted out of, thats his bad. GL to you Scott.

Moochie AVG 6 pts and 3.5 assist in 20 min the year before he became his free agent. We signed him for less than 4 million a year (the first few years of the deal it was more like 2 - 2.5). Not the best contract, but not that horrible of a contract for a 27 year pg with his stats at the time. Even though there were a lot of the people that was on the boards thought he was overpaid, there were very few would thought he would be useless like he is now.

Padge is a pretty decent rebounder. 2.8 rebounds per game in 14 minutes isn't bad for a guy who shoots as many 3s as Padgett does. I think someone will give him significantly more than the $870,000 he had coming from the Rockets. I also think he deserves it. He's definitely one of the better perimeter shooting PFs in the league. I hope we can keep him as a backup.
