    That's a bit insulting. Just because someone has a southern accent doesn't mean they are an idiot. I would be willing to bet that Van Chancellor has forgot more about basketball than the vast majority of people have ever known. It remains to be seen how well he will do in this role, but he's not exactly replacing Billy Packer. Calvin Murphy grew into the job to the point that he wasn't *only* a self-aggrandizing boob in a purple suit. Calvin could also be a self-aggrandizing boob in a purple suit who could make an interesting observation about the game here, or there. Let's give Van a chance. At least for little Nikko's sake.

    Yeah man i really wanted Newlin as well but nobdody cares about what we want.


    but the chancellor option is better than the bullard option and its a makes me happy inside because it means that cynthia cooper is out of this picture. van chancellor may sound like a toad from mississipi but at least he aint no stutterin blunderin fake smiling camp counselor just waiting for summer camp to be over like that gal named cynthia cooper. burp.

    You know, thinking about the "train wreck" phenom that was Cooper, it might be historic television to have Coop AND Van chatter in a 3 way roundtable, with Hagedorn doing the Ernie role from TNT. Just once, for posterity.

    VAN is a BAD choice. He is a smart man, and DOES know what he is talking about but his VOICE is not going to cut it for TV. That accent is too thick.

    No to Cooper.
    No to Van.
    Yes to Bullard.

    I'm sorry but Bull is boring. I love the guy and all but I agree with SupermanSK in that Bull has no color in his color commentary.

    If it is lesser of two evils then so be it. I will take Dull and Boring over ANNOYING studdering and thick accents.

    The commentary doesnt have to be great. It just shouldnt be DISTRACTING from the GAME which should be exciting. So dull and boring is fine with me as long as the annoying studdering and thick accents TAKE AWAY from the enjoyment of watching the game.

    Van ~ What I'd do is have little TMac coming running, then he'd lower the goal and say. Hey Shaq Daddy make a move. Then Shaq makes a move and T Mac gets to shoot.

    I wouldn't understand a Van Chancellor selection either. Good personality but a terrible voice. Very annoying. Too bad his <a href="http://bbs2.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=77739">Green Eggs and Ham rendition</a> isn't still on the web.

    This is a big promotion for Van. Going from Coments coach to Rockets broadcasting is a big step up. Congrats coach!!

    The Rockets make some ASSININE decisions.

    They seem to do ok on the BBall work, but they drop the ball left and right amongst things that fans think are important.

    Chancellor is not a good commincator, Cooper sucks at the Half time show...

    Why can't we get some professionals in here who put on a good broadcast.

    We have to keep trying the home town approach...but with HORRIBLE announcers.

    Heck...Bullard was MILES better than either Cooper or Chancelor, and is also....WAY more popular.

    Don't you guys do any sort of marketing analysis, or do you just stick your finger in your mouth and pull it out to see which way the wind blows that day.

    He can't be any worse than Cooper. I mean, what will the Rockets do if they can't get Bullard of Newlin (or they -> Newlin or Bullard, don't want to)?

    Are these our only choices, right?

    Chancellor
    Newlin
    Bullard

    On a side note. Personally, one guy that I would like to become our color commentator would be Mario Ellie. But he's too busy with assistant coaching.:(
