I think the plan B is Marcus Banks now. Claxton, Bobby Jackson, and Sam I Am are already taken.

I'm not convinced Marcus Banks is plan b. I think they intend to play Mike James as our starting shooting guard and Banks would be our back up point guard.

hopefully, mike james or even marcus banks will play point guard. fred jones will partner either one at the two. rockets's perimeter defense won't be brought up again because it won't be an issue.

I hope that in addition to getting James we will be able to get another backup PF/C our frontcourt defense is weak.

I think Lonny Baxter will fill that role.

I absolutely agree. James, Banks and Morley were all with the Celtics a few years back. Morley should be very familiar with Banks' skills. The question becomes...can we get anything for Alston in a trade or as part of a trade?

For the sake of discussion, what happens when we play teams like the Pistons or Bulls who have big physical backcourts?

Nice!!! James will sign on Thursday to rejoin the Rox. Rox lookin' better each day. The article on T-Mac in the Chronicle today was good. Mike James will be a sweet addition to an already better team.

We'd be screwed, but that doesn't mean that our management isn't still considering it.

Thats why we need to go after Bonzi Wells and to go along with Mike James, not Marcus Banks. S+T for one, MLE for the other.

    James-Alston-Head
    Wells-Bogans-Head
    McGrady-Novak
    Battier-Hayes-Howard
    Yao-Mutombo

If that is the case, it's a smart move. A backourt of Banks and James could create problems for other teams because of their quickness and the bulldog mentality they both seem to have. I would like to think you are right about this.

The Bulls backcourt is hardly physical, though they do play well as a unit.

The Pistons, well, somehow the Cavs managed to push them to 7 and the Heat beat them... as long as you can spread the floor and hit open 3's you always have a chance at beating a higher quality team.

Also neither team can guard Yao, and maybe Prince can contain T-mac, but that would just leave everyone else open.

Wells or Maggette would put us where we need to be.

What happens when they play the Rockets and have to match up with the quickness and shooting of Banks and James? My point is things would even out. And if it became a major advantage to them, slide Mcgrady over to the 2, problem solved.

What will you use for the SnT for Bonzi? Maybe an SnT with Minny with Jarik + MB for JuHo? How bad do Wolves want to dance without MJ?

If we end up signing Banks and go with Battier as our starting PF, then not only would the Rockets be thinking out of the box, they would be throwing the box away. Our primary starting lineup would be Yao + 2 SFs (Tracy & Battier) + 2 PGs. I like the concept of trying something different but this seems over the top. When we need rebounding and size, I suppose Hayes or JH would slide in at PF and/or we could move Tracy to SG. It's also likely we will add a bigger PF later.

I can hardly wait for JVG & CD to be interviewed after July 12th when they can talk about the players and exactly what kind of team they are trying to construct.
