Unless the best he can get is a 3 year MLE contract from Minny and Dallas and we are offering him a 5 year deal if he takes TE route. Then he may be more inclined to choose us. It's more money and he will have at least 5 more years in the league.

I believe in clear and uninhibited exchanges of ideas and opinions. However, if the information is not intelligible, then the value of the message is diminished to the point of non-existence. We don't use Eubonics, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic etc. etc. because the board would be the second coming of the Tower of Babel.

    Does that answer your question?

From Chad Ford's ESPN chat today:

Eric Minneapolis: Quickly Chad, Where does Mike James end up. He is meeting with Minn,Dal and Hou today. Does Minnesota have a shot?

Chad Ford: I think he's returning to Houston. He lives there, loves it there, and it sounds like they're willing to overpay him to come back. I think it's a mistake ... but teams like to burn cash this time of eyar.

Yeah, but for an awful team. And let's not forget that he's on the wrong side of 30. Still, he'd fill a big need. Plus, we did kick him to the curb, so we should be expected to pay more to get him back. I think the price is fair.

I'm not big on Mike James. He's a me-first player who massages the ball too much. I love the Battier move for the Rockets because it encourages the Rockets' ability to play as a cohesive unit, but James, to me, does the opposite.

I'm not thrilled about getting James back because I don't think he can be our starting 2 guard. However I will be happy to have him as opposed to keeping David Wesley another year.

the MLE isn't over-paying, but the MLE for five years might be.

This is definitely concern, but I hope James is more willing to defer to Yao now that Yao is becoming the player he should be.

A lot of times in 04-05, James was the only reason we stayed in games.

Besides, we need his shooting ability. Out of all the possible players we could pick up, James fits the best with what the Rockets need now.

Realgm.com just reported James is close to signing a deal with the Rockets. Yippee cai yay! I feel like James can play a good combo guard role, just like Jason Terry did for the mavs, and I can't wait to have him. Now we just need to get a serviceable PF and I think we got a pretty good team!

Is not CD the idiot who got rid of James in the first place? Is not CD the brilliant mind that brought us Eddie Griffin, Stromile Swift? Is not CD the man who passed on Rashard Lewis for Misard Turkan, Byrce Drew?
I think CD is obviously just riding out his check till the end, giving us even less than his normal half ass job

Is not CD the idiot who now has James PLUS Rafer Alston?
Is not CD the idiot that draft Yao Ming when virtually EVERY "analysts" said get Jay Williams?
Is not CD the idiot that swung the most lopsided trade in years in TMac for Francis?
Is there not 31 other GMs other than CD that passed Rashard Lewis?

    Wanna keep playing this game?

Start a poll, see how many people agree with you. Drafting Yao Ming, is really the only bright spot. Then again, Jay Williams wasn't the alternative, the alternative was to trade the pick.

T-Mac wanted to come to Houston. Other teams had better offers. We were fortunate to get him.

I agree with him. Dawson, as a GM, has been great at getting deals done. That's his job. It's not his job to shove a roster down the coaches throat. That never works. In the Rudy era, he facilitated bringing in Rudy guys. In the JVG era, it's been JVG guys. He doesn't try and make the coach go with a philosophy that the coach isn't comfortable with. That's not a bad thing. Les is in a better position to challenge the coach's philosophy if he doesn't think it's working.

Dawson got us Francis for scrap.
Dawson got us McGrady for below value.
Dawson's brought in several free agents for relatively short money contracts (last bad contract he gave out was Mo Taylor).
Dawson's doing his job well, and beats the pants off over half his peers.

Charley Casserly was a bad GM. Reached in the drafts, overpaid for below average free agents, got clowned in every trade he made (except for Moulds), and constantly failed to broker good players.

michecon, I don't mean this disrespectfully, but trading the #1 pick almost never takes place in this league. Even if he had moved it, would we have recieved someone as good as what is now the best center in the league?

    Evan
