Unfortunately, Dallas is also in Texas. Cannucks don't typically fly south for winter and wouldn't know that!

    :p

Yes, generally a maverick is a cow or calf.

Using your logic, Rockets are spaceships? Is that why their mascot is a bear?

As far as I'm concerned, this is a done deal for us. The Mavs and Wolves are just being used to drive up his price. Daniels leaving Dallas should not have alarmed anyone as they have been shopping him since game 6. MJ would be competing for PT with Terry, Howard, Harris, and Stackhouse in Dallas. In Houston, its just him and Raefer. Minnesota?!? Talk about walking into a s**tstorm! Foye will eventually be thier "Mike James" anyway...

The only 3 real questions remaining are what we end up doing with JH (as we are obviously shopping him rather aggresively), our 2 TEs, and V-Span.

    Yao/Deke
    (JH?)/Novak/Hayes
    Battier/Bogans/Bowen
    T-Mac/Head/Frahm
    MJ/Alston/(V-Span?)

    I see the lineup differently.

    Alston/Head/Summerleague
    James/Bogans/Frahm
    TMac/Novak/Bowen
    Battier/Hayes
    Yao/Mutombo
Trade Howard for an expiring deal. Croshere would have been good.

With Battier, McGrady's, and James' versatility, we can pretty much make any subs we want and everyone can switch up positions.

I agree the lineup during some stretches will look like that, but having an undersized Hayes as our only backup PF, a 6' 10" Novak as our backup 3, and Bogans backup MJ (at a primary "shooting position," instead of someone like Head) would not behoove our team IMO...

    Yao/Deke
    (JH?)/Novak/Hayes
    Battier/Bogans/Bowen
    T-Mac/Head/Frahm
    MJ/Alston/(V-Span?)

    Much better! ;)

MEETINGS SET: Raptors free-agent guard Mike James is scheduled to meet with representatives of the Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves in Las Vegas today as he tries to find a new place to ply his trade.

Because those three teams are all over the NBA salary cap and the Raptors have no interest in taking on any of their marginal players, it looks as if a sign-and-trade deal — which would allow James to increase his salary — is out and he will have to agree to sign on for the so-called mid-level cap exception of approximately $5 million (U.S.) to start.

Looks like Dallas already has a plan to fill the void left by Daniels anyways ;) ...

Steve Kauffman, agent for Nuggets free-agent guard Greg Buckner, counted Dallas and Miami, as well as Denver, among seven teams courting his client.

Off the top of my head, Battier would right now probably be the best guy currently on the team to guard Dirk, Abdur-Raheem and Kirilenko. Those are western conference starters. That doesn't include the Easter conf.

As 2nd unit guys go, the list is MUCH longer of guys that Battier could guard.

Sweet news, can't wait till this becomes official, or at least word is leaked.

I haven't been following closely enough, but is using the TE on a resigned James no longer an option?

Hopefully it is but doubtful. The TE is smaller than the MLE. Since Dallas already offered the MLE, I doubt we can get away with it. ...but fingers crossed.

Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Pau Gasol, and Elton Brand are western conference starters as well.

Nobody is suggesting Battier is our starting 4. We are only suggesting that Battier can log SOME minutes at 4 against certain matchups.
