JL3 and Sura are givens. No reason to cut Landry before you really know what you have. I really like Harris, but I think he's gone. I think we give Novak one more shot, but I think that dude we got from Minny in the James trade will be gone. So: Harris Reed JL3 Sura
We need to cut one more, and that might just be Novak. I think the Rockets have invested too much in Landry to not even have him stick around on opening day.
So you say they will cut a player and eat his 1.5 million option for next year but not cut a player because they paid $1,000,000 to get a 2nd round pick? And where did you get the figure $1,000,000 from? I think 2nd round picks are less than that.....I have not seen a confirmed monetary figure for it yet. Personally, I think they will cut whomever they think will not help the team. DD
oh yeah? what about indiana trading 3 2nd round picks to get james white then waiving him before the season starts? and dont act all high and mighty its the internet everyone is the same. you can be jenna jameson and we still will treat you the same way
I don't know which 5 players will be cut,but I would like to make a comment on Snyder. I think he might be gone if he can't adapt to the system. The only positive thing about him is his ability to attack the basket and his height, but if he can't improve on the defensive end,he will be of no use to the team IMO.
Sura(cut) JL3(cut) Reed(cut) Novak(cut) Synder(trade for low draft pick) Mike James/Rafer Alston/Aaron Brooks Tracy Mcgrady/Steve Francis/Luther Head Shane Battier/Bonzi Wells/Mike Harris Luis Scola/Chuck Hayes/Carl Landry Yao Ming/Dikembe Mutumbo/Jackie Butler
Trade restriction: Harris, 50k (Limited salary protection) Landry, est. 100-150k (LSP) Players that can be traded: Lucas, 500k (LSP) Novak, 687k Sura, 1m (LSP) Snyder, 2.36m Reed, 3.01m /2yrs Butler, 4.928m /2yrs
I can't believe that you're unaware that when they paid a mil for the pick, we did not have Scola or Butler or Hayes. They didn't sign Scola/Butler until July and didn't resign Hayes until August. They had shipped out Howard and the only 4s on the team were Reed and Novak. So yeah, they paid a little to move up and grab an insurance policy, in case they deal for Scola didn't work. In case they were unable to resign Hayes. If they are so keen on keeping him, why were they at odds with him and his agent over giving him a guaranteed contract? This is from last month's negotiations: So riddle me this professor, why are the Rockets so unwilling to make a commitment to Landry if he's a lock to make the team?
hooroo, I believe that the Rockets have a TEAM option on Butler for next year, so the team would only take a cap hit for this season if they waived him. Conversely, Reed has a PLAYER option for next year, making it a two-year cap hit for the team if they cut him.
reed jl3 sura harris outside of sura the rockets have the least amount of money invested in the other 3 players....doubt they would cut landry who they just signed.
I don't like the idea of cutting players! Possibly there might be one or two trades to be made. Lucas is the only one who might be cut......... On the bubble are:- Reed, Francis, Novac, Landry, Sura, Harris and Lucas which would leave 13 players Francis and Harris would be my choice to make the 15 cut. With possibly Landry in the NBA second League. Who knows what is in the mind of Morey???
If you can not trade them, then you have cut them before the deadline. Right now few teams want our players (Of course, not Yao, Tmac). I guess Sura, Lucas, Reed, and Novac (or Syn.) are likely to be cutted.
