Yeah, my wife works right by the place. It's across from NASA on Upper Bay Road. We bought a bunch of crabs there Mother's Day. People love them, but crabs are too much work for too little food for me.
Is Lupe Tortilla really all that? Is it a franchise? I may have to check it out... Usually I just stick to local places when dining out like Teotihuacan when I'm around that area or Vallarta in Texas City when it comes to Mexican. When it comes to Chinese, etc., I head to Bellaire... I second Mogul on Bay Area as a good buffet to try out.
I hear ya...I often feel the same way when I visit crab houses in Maryland when I go to visit my brother. Do they have anything other than BBQ crabs on the menu? Is it a run down shack like the original, or is it an actual sit-down restaurant?
not quite. i've eaten there. the food is okay and let's just say, they don't exactly clean up after the cattle run.
I'm not sure what is on the menu, my wife just ordered bbq crabs to go. It is in an older shopping center that has some character. I think a Chinese restaurant used to be there. But it is no shack. They do have long tables with trash cans on the end. It's not too bad but could be better. I think business has really picked up so maybe they will get a better location soon. They were on the cover of Houston Press a couple of weeks ago.
When I go to Clear lake to eat, it is either Tookie's or Crazy Cajun. If you want good mexican, Ninfa's original location is just up the freeway 10 miles.
anybody ever try the sandwiches at Frenchies on Nasa Rd 1? best tasting sandwiches in houston. Meatball, Roast Beef, Roast Pork, or Turkey you cant go wrong. they are huge and cost about $6.
I also want to mention Alpine Brau House on Hwy 3 in Webster. They used to be in the old housey building but moved closer to Carlos Beer Garden. My dad used to go to NASA splashdown parties there in the '60s. Excellent German food, plus good German beer on tap. They have the accordion polka player on certain nights. It's the real deal.
Lima Time... One place off of Hwy 3 near Kemah is Tookies...The best Hamburgers...I'll be hitting that this weekend... Uh, I meant eating at Tookies, not Mrs. Lima...
I always thought T-Bone Tom's was better. Looks like their menu has changed. I went to college right before Kemah became "Kemah". Came back and the whole thing had changed.
