I think you mean the Senate. The House is likely to go along with who wins the White House. The Senate cycle has key Dem seats in Red States which is why it's projected to flip. Either way I think the point is the same. Trump only passed one major bill and that was the Paul Ryan/Oligarch pet project tax cut for billionaires. They spent most of their capital in the first 2 years trying to overturn the ACA and that was a loser both from a legislative perspective, and politically super unpopular. But if Trump wins we'll be in a different place in terms of executive power. That's the big point here. He has power he didn't have in his first term from the Supreme Court, and regardless of the Democratic seats in Congress, it is impossible for the Democrats to gain enough seats in the Senate to ever impeach and remove Trump if he does dictator sh$t. Harris technically has newfound Supreme Court powers if she wins to ignore the law, but I think the Supreme Court would quickly step in to curb any dictatorial power she takes "they FIND" to be illegal. The whole "Personal vs official acts" argument they drew up is convenient for them to rule in a subjective manner, and rule when acts are doing on a "personal" basis when it suits them... aka when a Democrat breaks the law. So it's just a different ball game with Harris vs Trump. It's literally two different countries, and two different sets of laws & rules.
That's exactly what I've been saying. Just look at JD Vance's polling vs Trumps. It's a cult of Trump not of the GOP. Ideally for JD/Elon Trump only is in DC for the first month or two, and then I think they'll want him in Mar A Lago basically until he dies. Think about Bin Laden's video messages from a cave in Afghanistan after 2005 but instead it'll be Trump's tweets from a sh$tter at Mar A Lago.
*The Economy is already strong. Trump tanked the last strong economy given to him by giving huge tax cuts to the Rich and then his COVID response. *Wars will end...NOT. Oh, he will do his damnest to make Ukraine surrender to Putin. However, if Russia takes Ukraine...Putin will turn his sights to other Eastern Europe countries. NATO will have to get directly involved. Trump will try to stop NATO from stopping Putin. Trump will again be impeached (if Democrats have the House) for being Putin's b****. The Middle East will continue to explode. *The Border will still be the border, just talked about less. *Hate MAGA will still b**** about fake "woke" outrage. Nothing will change *The government is not getting smaller Trump will try to embed his scrotum suckers throughout the bureaucracy he did before. *Trump will take bribes from foreign leaders and say it is "official acts". *Trump will go after his enemies, using the DOJ/FBI as a personal hit squad. There will be MASS resignations because of this. *Trump will attempt to jail Democratic Congresspeople who disagree or impede his attempt to be a dictator. * As Trump tries to be a Strong Man, mass protests will erupt. Trump will try to use the US military to squash unrest. This will be his downfall, as much of the military will revolt instead of shooting unarmed civilians.
Letting RFKjr run the our health agencies seems like a recipe for disaster. If he's elected pick literally anyone else except for the dead brainworms guy. Reminds me of:
Um, US was involved in Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq while Trump was President. No wars were started by Obama, he just had to deal with the mess left by Bush. Just because you don't start a War, doesn't mean the US doesn't have to deal with the fallout.
Because Trump has many failings and faults. He makes plenty of enemies and understandably so. They can exaggerate just like leftists here can exaggerate. I don’t like Trump, actually. You can not care much for Trump and at the same time reject the hysterics/rhetoric around him. I don’t think its proper or correct to claim he is a Nazi/Hitler etc etc. It cheapens language, its boy who cried wolf, it cheapens the history and suffering of those who really endured those regimes, it raises the national temperature, divides the country further and impugns on people horrific connotations and associations they don’t deserve. We all lived through his first term. Elections were held, his party suffered reverses, political dissent was allowed, political dissent was loud and constant, 24/7 365 from most major news outlets, people freely assembled and associated, no political opponents were jailed or prosecuted,no ethnic/sexual/religious/racial minorities suffered any pogroms or widespread discrimination, there were no Nuremburg laws, no staged terrorist attacks to strip civil liberties, no suspension of habeas corpus. If Trump wins in 2024, I think it will look like it did in 2016. Life will plod along like normal just like it did cerca 2016-2020. You’ll have more conservative policies/governance and judicial appointees, you’ll have your midterm elections in 2026 and then Trump doesn’t seek a third term in 2028. I see no real reason to believe otherwise.
Life never plodded around like normal during Trump's term. It's not normal for a President to spew lies compulsively for 4 years in office, or spew propaganda and conspiracy theories ridden with flat out lies over and over to the point he incites violence towards innocent people. Nothing was normal during or after the pandemic, but his lies fueled the rebellion of defying the advice of experts. His lies leading up to the election incited attacks and death threats towards election workers and honest Americans simply doing their job. It's not normal for a President to refuse to accept the votes of the people and incite a coup to stay in power. It's not normal for a President to show more love for men like Putin and Kim Jong Un than fellow patriotic Americans. It's not normal to paint a target on your VP and call insurrectionists beating cops Patriots. Nothing normal happens when you have a lying, self-serving sociopath in charge of your country, unless your definition of normal means chaos, conspiracies, propaganda, and lies. Maybe that's normal in places like Russia, but your version of a normal America is different than mine. Using your words is what Trump does with regularity against Americans, immigrants, minorities, politicians, judges, prosecutors, the government, the DOJ, the FBI, FEMA, scientists, doctors, and so many more. "It raises the national temperature, divides the country further and impugns on people horrific connotations and associations they don’t deserve."
Very much appreciate the sincere reply. If I believe -- as I do -- that people greatly exaggerate what liberals allegedly want or what Harris is, etc, then I have to admit to myself that many of my left leaning colleagues could be totally hyperbolic about Trump. Leftists are not immune to the hyperbolic effects of social media and the modern attention economy. We just are not, even though every person wants to think that they are the one person above it all, not being manipulated by all the blinking screens and exclamation points and 15-second videos. I think some of the stuff about DJT is definitely hyperbolic, but his words, his tendencies, and what's left of his inner circle: those all disturb me. His team vetted, for instance, all the insane crap that was spewed at this NY rally. I've never thought Hitler was a good comparison -- we agree -- but that **** was just disturbing to me as an American. Thanks again, and peace to us all.
Here is what I am hoping...........................trump loses and maga goes away for good, American's WIN. All the folks who are "pretending" to like trump can turn back their focus to actually passing some laws and **** I honestly thought it was a joke when I heard that trump would have RFK jr go "crazy" with DHS and other agencies....................WTF and then Elon is going to be the official "cost cutter", and in his own words the economy will tank and we will all take a haircut...............BONKERS, but they love them a dictator in Argentina and all the maga bros love them a dictator and trump will give them what they want I prefer not to know what would happen if trumpy gets back in........I did my part, I voted for Harris
I think it's easier logic to follow that if someone who used to work for Harris thinks she's horrible for POTUS, then they could go to be any of the hundreds of conservative media outlets that a big portion of the country consumes and tell them. It's not simply the turnover that is alarming about Trump, but the fact that the John Kelly's of the world say Trump is terribly unfit.
This is what happened last time Trump was President. Also, JD Vance called Trump an American Hitler. Is Vance a leftist crying wolf? Do not underestimate the damage Trump can do. He’s already done plenty of damage.
