Former Rocket Gerald Green invited to Lakers training camp

    Anyone remember this dude? He was cut by a Chinese team a week ago, despite averaging ~27ppg. Very 1-dimensional ball hog who jacks up 15+ 3-pointers a game (his 3P% was actually pretty good), gambles/doesn't play defense, poor ball handling skills, poor basketball IQ and can't pass. He can still dunk though.

    He's still only 25......That guy is wasting so much talent...It's like he doesn't practice or something.

    You guys that say Gerald Green is "talented", what talent do you think he has?

    In reality, he isn't a waste of anything. All Green has is athleticism. He is a poor basketball player. Going to college would have exposed him.

    I remember when he was entering the draft, they were making comparisons saying he'd be the next T-mac. Sad how he fell off.

    At first, there was talking of him going in the top 5-6. But his agent made a decision that put everyone off: He wouldn't allow Green to workout and play live, competitively against other draftees. This caused his draft stock to fall.

    After the draft, it was obvious why his agent protected Green from live competition.

    The funny thing is the Chinese team (Foshan) pursued T-mac hard for a few weeks before landing Green (T-mac rejected them). When the Chinese reporters told Green of the episode, his response was (roughly): "I hope Chinese fans consider me T-mac."

    I can see the comparison, both are long and athletic and very tall for the 2/3 position. Both are have good mechanics and can shoot the 3-pointers and turn-around jumpers. (In addition, both have sleepy eyes.) Problem is, Green can't dribble the ball and is very skinny. Even in China he turns it over regularly when a defender puts a body on him. Also unlike T-mac he has really poor IQs. He had a 2-on-1 fast break in China and he ran into his own teammate.

    I feel like T-Will had better make his game known this year or he'll be following in this guy's foot steps... T-Will is unbelievabley talented tho... Blows my mind how these guys can suck so bad when their athleticism puts them in the top 5% in the NBA...
