I guess I stand corrected. You're right that following orders is not a defense for atrocities. But, I don't want another Abu Ghraib where we punish a couple of sacrificial lambs and give medals to the guys most responsible for the atrocities. At least this guy is willing to admit to what's going on (assuming he's not full of it).
In order to remedy these charges, Obama should ask Congress to pass a terrorists' bill of rights. That way, our soliders will know the proper protocol when providing the terrorists with bedside chocolates and turn-down service at night.
after this turd of a thread you made disgracing our troops, you should be barred from ever even referencing them again.
In defense of the enlisted men and women who serve, we're not all idiots here despite what you may think. We are well aware of the banking system in Geneva.
this guy is part of the houston chapter of iraq veterans against iraq war, saw him Rachel Madow's show
Yeah I said idiots, you got me. Wait no I didn't. Geez, how much classroom instruction on Geneva did we get in SOI or MOS school? NONE! Simple fact, take it as you wish.
Sucks for you, but the Navy learns about it in boot camp. Thats kind of one of those things we need to learn about in the event we get captured. On the other note, yeah you didn't say idiots. I guess now we have to be verbatim to get a point across. It just annoys me when people think the enlisted folk are just mindless sheep who don't know right from wrong and only do what they're told. My only point is that there are many enlistees who have more brains than the officers above them. They just don't have a degree and a commission.
we learned how to go 10 miles with 80 pounds of gear. then crawl around in the mud. LOL, tell the Lt or NCO that and see how he feels about the undermining of the command structure.
Don't need to. I follow orders when I have to, but if its something ridiculous people do speak up. Might not always work out, but your point was that the enlistees don't know about things like the Geneva Convention. I'm not talking about insubordination, I'm talking about knowing the difference between right and wrong. Oh and on boot camp, we had our physical training. We also find time to learn some stuff. Sounds like you were done a disservice, all of our armed forces members should be trained on this in the unfortunate event that they are captured. Even if some of our enemies don't follow the rules mandated by the GC. Maybe its just different mentalities. I am grateful for the training I got though.
