How am I laughing, exactly? You know what? I am going to laugh right now.

I would rather laugh than complain on how everything is somebody's fault. It gives me a little solace, for a moment.

Here's a newsflash: ABC National just ran a story about how Houston is doing a piss-poor job with the Refugees, and that we should have known how to handle this.

How does that make you feel? Do you agree? Most people around the nation probably do.

Or, do you think that Houstonians are doing the best they can in a horrible situation.

ABC National is doing a piss-poor job reporting IMO. They should have reported that this was coming. The hurricane surprised everyone because our crappy NEWS MEDIA didn't report it properly!

If the whole point of Houston's existence was to handle refugees and it turned out this way, yes, it would deserve criticism. FEMA has one job: respond quickly and efficiently to emergencies and it is failing spectacularly.

Not to get off topic, but does anyone know the 3rd disaster from that report? I mean, the first two happened in 4 years.....

As I recall, it took FEMA a month before they came here for Allison. Why this group works slowly is a topic I'm tired of defending.

All I know is my father was the one in charge of the Exxon Valdez oil spill. He was awakened Easter Sunday at 4:00 in the morning. He was on a flight to Valdez at 6:00 that morning.

He spent the next 3 weeks non-stop working on it. And he was hammered by the media for it.

It was undeserved and viscious. So I apologize if I seem to have a chip on my shoulder, but I do with people yelling at things without knowing anything.

And believe me, the media can be a biased medium.

I don't believe you have heard me say anything derogatory about the people on the ground providing assistance. Just the opposite.

My beef is the lack of preparation PRIOR to the disaster with regards to our politicians and our agencies. Due to lack of preparation, particularly for a foreseeable event as a hurricane hitting New Orleans, we have been slow in getting ENOUGH aid to the places that need it.

For example. I'd like to think the national guard is on call prior to a hurricane hitting. Clearly they weren't.

There you have it. As a conservative he would rather risk another New Orleans disaster than pay more taxes to maintain the levees..

Oh, by the way this was Mr.neutral moderate man who initially claimed he did not want to analyze the causes ,but just wanted to empathize with the victims.

I don't think you can blame Bush for the hurricane and the flooding. While global warming may be at play, even if Bush signed Kyoto it wouldn't have made a difference in time. Although it does make one wonder what hurricanes will be like in 50 years.

Secondly, even if funding wasn't cut, it's highly questionable weather they could have prevented levee breaches. The area that failed was considered one of the most secure and strongest, and had recently been upgraded.

Having grown up in N.O. as a kid, seeing the destruction is painful - what I will say Bush should take heavy blame is this:

Why on earth did he strip the balls of FEMA and the National Guard? By weakning both of those agencies ability to respond to domestic crisis, a lot of people may have lost their lives and our nation is now embarrassed in front of the entire world once again. Here he did have control - he could have made a difference in the response. He must be accountable here.

Bush has completely made us look like fools. He's turned world unity into world divisiveness. He's divided America in ways it's never been divided. The world laughs at our pain, rising fuel prices, the inability to maintain law and order, and our misadventures in Iraq.

If Bush can not take responsibility for these things, and says things like "no one could have forseen the levees breaking", what kind of leader is he? He's not willing to be accountable for anything. Instead of trying to unite the country, he just continues to play lip service and go through the motions.

Frankly, I've gone from being nuetral towards Bush to really now thinking he's the worst president we've ever had. He's a disgrace to America, the Republican Party, Texas, and the Presidency.

That is EXACTLY what I wanted to do. However, the subject wouldn't lie down. Y'all kept coming up with more and more unsubstantiated prophesies, etc. I finally had it when someone "reported" that cannibalism was rampant in NO.
