You are just deluded if you think that enough was done to get the 100,000+ poor people in New Orleans evacuated before the storm. You are also deluded if you think that enough is being done right now to save these peoples lives. Heads need to roll for not providing the leadership, foresight and funding to deal with this disaster. They knew for years that New Orleans was vulnerable and they cut funding to reinforce the levies. More than that they just don't care about poor people in New Orleans or probably anywhere else. Shame on them.

I'm not talking about getting the army in there to stop the looting. Who cares if they loot everything. I want the army in there to to protect the innocent, get the people out of the city, provide safety to the Red Cross and be representatives of western civilization. God help the citizens of Los Angeles if the "big one" ever hits because they can expect no help from FEMA. New Orleans is supposed to be the disaster that FEMA has based all their major relief efforts on. I would consider their advanced planning and training to be an absolute failure. I guess the Mad Max movies aren't far from the truth in describing human behavior either. When I see children and the elderly suffering and dying, and what appears to be little being done about it; yes I am going to be upset and demand answers as a citizen of this country.

Amen. I was thinking the exact same thing. You know what? Hell, It's Bush's fault that it's hot outside today because of global warming.

It's Bush's fault I used to get into fights with saudis back when I was a kid....and he wasn't even in office yet!

Huh, people are swarming to help.

As a taxpayer, we absolutely have EVERY right to point fingers.

How do you know that? Care to backup your claim with any facts? IIRC, there are gillions of examples of rogue people behaving badly in bad situation with Afghanastan being the largest and most recent example. Palestine also comes to mind.

If the armed forces can't provide their own manuverability and communications, maybe that explains the cluster **** that is now Iraq.

If the armed forced don't restore order, then who is gonna do it? The Salvation Army?

Good job, blame the victims. Do also blame the woman for wearing a short skirt after she gets raped?

Dude, a lot of these people don't vehicles and NOLA didn't provide enough bussing during evacuation.

After 4 days the situation is getting worse ...not better. Since FEMA themselves said NOLA was the 3rd most likely natural disaster waiting to happen, you'd think authorities would have gotten their act together BEFORE the storm hit. They were predicting NOLA was in the direct path for days prior ...and yet they were TOTALLY unprepared.

If you say they were as prepared as they reasonably could be ...I'll point out the results. Clearly they were NOT prepared.

Bin Laden is probably kicking himself right now for not thinking of blowing up those levees himself.

I'm very worried that terrorists may take advantage of this confusion and start creating more mayhem in NO or Houston. :(

I would be careful about calling someone an idiot. The response to the disaster has been unacceptable. Even Bush, the chief idiot of the entire country, has said the response has been unacceptable. Bush has thought that cutting taxes every year he's been in office has been a good idea. Apparently, he's felt that cutting funds for the Corps of Engineers has been a good idea as well. Those funds directed at working on the flood control system of New Orleans have been cut several times. By Bush.

    No thanks needed.

Seriously, what exactly was done the previous 100 years, and why not?

God, I'm tired of arguing tired points. Y'all want more taxes. We get it!

Maybe you need a nap. ;)
Yes, we need more taxes to pay the government's bills, but that's another topic.

Well the fund cutting keeps coming up, as if had Bush doubled the funds to fix it, it would have made a dent of a difference.

Hell, if you want to blame a republican, blame Reagan. That would make a hell of a lot more sense.

I want us to have never engaged in the war in Iraq and run up the largest spending deficits of all time. Had we not done that, we wouldn't need to raise taxes.

I think I'm going to go out and see a movie, get something to eat, and hope the kids are asleep when we get home. You suck on your lollypop and go rent The Wizard of Oz.

That is a rather trivial response to the tens of thousands that have died in Iraq to protect us against WMD.

We were clearly unprepared and Bush has DIRECT accountability for that by diverting Homeland Security resources overseas. But apparently you think that is something to laugh about.

How ironic that we blew our wad on trying to steal Iwrecki oil - and now we don't even have adequate resources to properly rescue our own people in N.O., the place that would actually be accepting the middle east supertankers (full of said oil)! Oh, and while this is all going on, Iwreck is currently on the verge of civil war
