I don't know why he is on the list, but if he is, then he should not be allowed into the country.

I am scared to death of Cat Stevens. Ever since 9/11 I've been afraid that Cat Stevens would drive a car loudly playing the sound track to Harold and Maude into an office building and then leave the stereo on while dozens of office workers and passers by became dangerously mellow.

Cat Stevens hates Americans' freedom not to be mellow.

I think it is a "charity funding" issue.

Gee, Poof, last time I heard people were innocent until proven guilty... Oh wait, I forgot 9/11 changed everything and now you can be an enemy combatant just because somebody in the government says you are. Let me see I think I have heard this pattern before....

    "Are you a witch?!"
"Why do you terrorize these people?"
"We know you are a witch."
"Why don't you just confess, that way your death will be painless and you can go to heaven."
"Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live."
"Prove you are not a witch, and we'll let you go."

or do you prefer the more modern version:

"How long have you been a member of the Communist Party?"

placemats, why do you and many other liberals refer to "presenting the other point of view" as "derailing a thread"? You and your people do this over and over and over. It's gross.

You didn't read what I wrote either. I said that Cat Stevens is a sympathetic figure to Americans because of his music. Heck, we wouldn't have this thread were that not the case. This is exactly the type of person that al Queda would love to have. No one would ever suspect Cat Stevens of terrorism. He could go places and do things others could not.

My comment was not derailing the thread at all. It's the only fair-minded point in this whole thread. The rest is just emotional opinions and more USA bashing.

I really don't think our government has any "information" either. It seems as if nowadays, the government forms its policies and makes its decisions based on paranoia and hysteria.

We won't let Tariq Ramadan teach at Notre Dame because he is supposedly anti-Semitic. We won't let Cat Stevens enter the country because he is an outspoken Muslim who supports Islamic causes throughout the world.

To me, the very idea of keeping people out of America for their beliefs and ideas is un-American. If the government has legitimate reasons for keeping Cat Stevens out, then that's fine. But once again, in the last 25 years, we have shown that when it comes to picking out the bad guys in the world, we would have been better off just letting Joe Schmo flip a coin. So if RocketMan Tex is an average guy like myself, you should take his word over that of our government. History will be on your side.

i have not a clue. and last few times i've traveled i've been held up too much and in danger of missing my flight occasinally so i haven't really discussed it fully with the people. and again its really not even that big of a deal but i find it interesting that i'm perhaps somewhat of a danger at IAH but not anywhere else. makes no sense to me.

and TJ i think you'd be the perfect candidate for Al-Qaeda. you have a strong republican reputation. you'd perfectly blend in and be able to do things. you have the perfect cover!

Cat Stevens! Am I the only one here to have seen him in concert? What mad paranoia. He's Greek, isn't he? This is one more thing the Europeans are going to shake their heads about.

BTW, I think the reference to the brutal killings are in very poor taste. What on earth does that have to do with this? It sounds like religious descrimination, to me.

If he does financially support these types of organizations, are our actions justified?

Very good points indeed!! Our governmental policies today reminds me of the stories about the Pharaoh in Egypt during the time of Moses. Kill all newborn Hebrew males because one of them MIGHT bring the Pharoah to his downfall and lead the Israelites to freedom. Granted that did end up happening though.

That's exactly what our government does today. Let's go and attack Iraq before they lead us to our downfall. Let's discriminate against every Muslim because who knows, they MIGHT be a threat to national security.

What it has to do with this? Batman Jones said this was the craziest thing he had heard all year, I asked if he found this crazier than the beheadings (which also happened this year), he said yes.

My roommate used to always listen to Cat Stevens really loudly.

He disappeared over Xmas and I haven't seen him since.

Maybe the dept. of homeland security really does know something we don't

Yeah, see, it doesn't have anything to do with this.

You just introduced it into the conversation, for some strange reason.

I vouch for Batman, this to me, seems stranger than the beheadings.

"Craziest thing I have heard all year" says nothing crazier happened. Thus, I picked one thing that I find WAY crazier. It doesn't even need to have anything to do with this.

This of course settles it. If YOU vouch for Batman...then it should be clear to everyone that a diverted plane is stranger than someone getting their head cut off ..

Oh man, we wouldn't want that to happen!

    Seriously, if this is true:
then I'm glad they didn't let him into the country. How many of these "Muslim charities" do you think are linked to al queda?

With all due respect to my fellow Rocket fans posting in this thread, I'll take the department of homeland security's intelligence over yours.
