Reading the Lyles for Fowler thread shows exactly why small sample sizes don't matter. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=247768&page=7 Aceshigh7's severe overreaction reminds you of some other posters in here.
I was a really big fan of lyles when he was here . He's had some bad injury luck ( maybe not since he's a pitcher and pitchers just get injured ) but he's a guy I thought could be really good for us and was oissed when we traded him .
Does Moore have injury issues? He sucked last season and only pitched 2 games in '14. ~2:1 career K-BB ratio 1.345 career WHIP Not sure about giving up Bregman. Correa can move to 3B.
Yes, he has had Tommy John surgery at a minimum. I don't think Correa is likely to move to third, even if it makes perfect sense.
Alex Bregman is having a monster year in the minors. I'm also excited about Kyle Tucker. With his pure swing and athlecism, he can win a batting title.
Quite a duel. Lyles went 7 innings, giving up 4 hits, 1 walk, and 1 unearned run on the way to a win. He had only thrown 76 pitches, but left for a PH in a tie game in the 8th. Straily went 5 innings, giving up 2 hits, 2 walks, and 1 run (no decision).
Why not move Bregman to 3rd.. He's the one you can test it on in the minors before counting for too much.. Can you guys imagine if we could have a lineup of Breg/correa/tuve/reed/rasmus/cargo/spring/ with white at DH and gattis at catcher... gomex and gattis would be our worst hitters, that would be amazing.
So you've given up on Singleton in the lineup Supposedly, Bregman is better defensively, but Correa might not take moving too kindly. Breg @3B and Los @SS doesn't seem shabby though.
The heck is wrong with you people Moran will be at third! Bregman is headed to the outfield in 2017 once Cargo and or Rasmus walks and Springer moves to CF.
hopefully people who were on the edge about the trade can crawl back a bit. Fairly rough outing for Vince.
Is it bad that Velasquez getting lit up makes me feel a little better about the trade? I don't want to root against him by any means but I don't want Giles to be mediocre and Velasquez to be a stud. I felt the Astros gave up a lot in the trade. Giles needs to catch fire and be better than good. Needs to be great.
Bud Norris once had a double digit strikeout complete game... onus is still on VV to put it all together (but he's very young, and provided he stays healthy, has a helluva arm). Giles has 2 years worth of valid MLB data to go on. He's not going to stray to far from that, even if he's not as tremendous... and he's also still very young. Could be a good trade for both teams... it does happen.
Bunch of Velasquez Only Fans in here. No mention of Obie's 2 inning, 4 run implosion? VV's outing didn't make as big a dent in his ERA as you'd expect since 3 of the runs were unearned.
Phillies RHP prospect Tom Eshelman scattered two hits and one run over seven innings Tuesday in a win for High-A Clearwater. Eshelman's seven-inning gem included a career-high nine strikeouts. He seemed to get better as the game went on, setting down each of the last 15 batters he faced. The 21-year-old has been dealing all season for the Threshers. Eshelman's 0.95 ERA ranks eighth in the Florida State League while his 0.53 WHIP is the league's fourth-lowest.
Carlos Beltran having a good year but the question is, should he go to the hall of fame? He will end up with over 400 homers and over 300 steals, only 4 players have done it. If the hawk is in i believe Beltran should be there.
