Went through the "Zach Greinke stories" rabbit hole this morning and some of them are just too hilarious not to share: Link Link I hope Zach Greinke can brighten up your morning like he did for me.
I would rather see Greinke give me 3 innings than another stitched together bullpen game with our AAA brigade...
I'd like for Greinke to be on the Astros pitching staff somehow. mfer is unintentionally hilarious. I bet he could give some pointers about hitting and fielding too.
Yuli is now 40. He had 85 wRC+ in 2022 and 77 wRC+ in 2023 And in 2024 he has not been good enough in AAA for the Braves to get a callup despite 2 of their starters being hurt and the only bench player w/ a wRC+ of 100 or better only has 13 PAs. He's done and definitely not what the 2024 Astros need
Once people leave the Astros, its like time stops and they'll always be remembered for what they were here: Springer still "club Astros" with youthful exuberance and always having fun (when in reality, he's a scuffling, overpaid, aging OF who is aging even faster than suspected... in part due to the longer seasons he got to participate in). Correa still a cripple with chronic back problems (when in reality, he's having one of his best seasons... and the back hasn't been a chronic condition since 2019). Yuli still a high average/RBI, picking machine (not doing that at AAA) Maldy: ok, I'll stop....
I still don't buy Correa's output this season for future success. He could easily be hitting .265 with 15 HRs and 66 RBIs next season (and signs point to that production more than 30 HRs and 100+ RBIs)
Yuli is washed - but he isn't a Jake. He is a classic ball player - 40 years old, with tens of millions of dollars in the bank .... and still chasing a little boys dream while riding on hot busses and riding on Spirit airlines (@juicystream ) and eating Burger King and Popeyes 5 times a week.
Yet he would give them close to what they've gotten from the 1B position and he's a proven playoff performer. Give me Vlad.
Aledmys Diaz coming back to the Astros on a minor league deal. Astros heard my post about us going to 3 WS out of 4 years with him on the roster it appears
Interesting. Outside of his first start he allowed only 5 runs in 12.2 Innings and the Brew were 3-1 in his starts.
