While Click did a good job while he was here, I wonder why posters want to give him credit for things like re-signing Brantley or trading for Yimi.?
I give credit to Click for Michael Jordan. Not because he had anything to do with him being a GOAT, but that Click was alive while it happened. That's good enough for me.
You’d think he’d get another GM opportunity… technically Tim Purpurra was the GM when this organization signed Altuve.
Click alienated a lot of owners with how he acted at the Winter meetings. I think Click is worthy of another chance. If I had a low budget team, I would give him a shot.
Tim has earned his WS ring(s) -- whether or not he was active in the org at the time of the championship.
He had a .305 xwOBA in the regular season as an Astro and a .284 xwOBA in the post-season. Those are pretty good results, albeit not nearly as good as he has played this year. Just for the sake of comparison, Graveman had a .340 xwOBA last season with the Astros. Maybe Click expected more or thought the cat was out of the bag with him already and so there wasn't value to be had in '22. Tayler Scott might make may relent on some of my Dana bashing with respect though with respect to his ability to find cheap pitching. That's looking like a great find.
lmao do they have a blog where people post besides reddit? i want to see more of this. too bad their sbnation site looks to be about dead.
Berkman went 47-104 in three seasons at HCU. “After difficult consideration, I have decided to step down as baseball coach at HCU,” Berkman said in a statement. “I have truly enjoyed working with the players, coaches and administrators at HCU. I was, unfortunately, unable to bring the level of success to the baseball program that I had hoped but I will always be grateful to HCU for the opportunity.” HCU, which competes in the Southland Conference, went 18-36, 11-37 and 18-31 in three seasons under Berkman.
AT least Jose Cruz Jr has turned it around at Rice... being saddled with Berkman-Pettitte there would have been even more horrific than it has been...
Before you ask, no, Maldonado is not a defensive improvement. The two catchers are poor defenders overall and equally poor blockers, but Lee is the superior framer and steal-preventer. Additionally, Lee showcases potential with his league-leading pop time.
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/05/brewers-to-select-enoli-paredes.html I thought he was going to be a decent RP for the Astros.
If you can't recruit and coach up quality players in the Houston area, you're doing something wrong. He and Pettitte won a state champeeenship at Second Baptist, so there's that.
