Maybe it IS But the future is not known and baseball players are never guaranteed to perform how you expect, project, or hope It wasn't a bad trade at the time. Like the Jeff Bagwell deal - A legitimate prospect with exceptional hit tool who was a league MVP in AA in his 1st full minor league season for a rental bullpen arm that isn't even a closer? That type of deal makes you shake your head from the start. This looked, on paper, like a good deal for both teams.
It just goes to show what a demon Click was with finding these guys. That seemed like a nothing burger move at the time and while Yimi didn't set the world on fire here he clearly had something in him that Click saw and which is finally coming out. An analog of that trade under Brown was the Lee for Graveman trade where Graveman was already washed up when the deal was made. Sad!
Ehh I’m not giving Click credit for Yimi. He didn’t pitch well for the Astros, and the Astros under Click did not make an effort to resign hin in 2022… Yimi so far is having an awesome year but this is his third season away from the Astros. Seems like a stretch to me.
