I was having such a good day, now I just feel empty inside. Luhnow has made some great moves, but this one definitely hurts. Considering what happened last night just adds to it. Good thing I wasn't standing up when I saw his final line, otherwise this would have been me Spoiler
Not to take anything away from Velasquez, but it seems a good time to remind everyone that the Padres have now been shutout in five of their first 10 games; they literally don't score a run half the time they take the field.
I don't care that the Padres suck. That was a dominant performance by VV. While we're probably looking to trade for another starter, we gave up one that could really bite us in the ass if he keeps it up.
Two starts. Wait until he goes against a good offense (Mets lineup is not good either) once or twice before everyone anoints him as a future ace.
we all knew VV had talent. We also knew that he had strong injury potential. As much as I think we need to give Giles time before claiming bust or otherwise...we also need to give VV time to see how his injury potential plays out. I don't want him to get hurt at all. But if there was heavy risk there and that factored into the trade, you can't suddenly ignore that risk based on 2 starts
Maybe VV was extra motivated after being traded and would never have realized the same success here
