That’s most likely a wrap for him. I obviously rooted for him when he was an Astro and he was very good for 5 years with Houston. But he always struck me as kind of an ass. And he miscalculated his value big time when he got to free agency. Still, dude made almost $100M playing baseball so good for him.
He struck me as an ass too, and he did absolutely bet on himself and lose in free agency, BUT I will always like him. He and Altuve were there to lead the renaissance of this franchise, putting in time during the end of the dark years. He put us back on the map winning that Cy Young in 2015 and the improbable run that almost took out the eventual champ Royals. He helped get us a title and we might not have ever gotten Verlander if he didn't publicly voice his disappointment when we didn't trade for JV at first. I believe he also convinced JV to waive his no- trade to get here. Keuchel is an all-time Astro in my book.
Always seems to happen that former top players end up hanging around in the division they came to prominence in. Like Andre Johnson finishing his career in Indy and TN (sigh....).
It's too bad for Dallas. I liked the guy for his time with the Astros and his role in getting Verlander to us. Had hoped he did well when he left, but it just went south.
