I love Reddick, but at this point he’s Straw’s empty batting average with no speed and no ability to play CF. Both Meyers and McCormick are far better options. Sadly, age has taken its toll and Reddicks career is probably over.
Snake Diggit provided a pretty solid list of the likely teams. I wouldn't be surprised if the Cubs try and land a SS. They will have the money and Correa is young enough to still be in his prime a few years down the road when they complete their rebuild. Story not being traded and having a down year helps Correa as Story will also have a qualifying offer attached to him. The Astros have a ton of options to fill their holes in the offseason. As of now they have 2 question marks for position players next season.... SS and CF. We will see in the next 2 months if Chas or Meyers can take off and pencil themselves in as starters for next season. If Correa does leave like I expect, I see the Astros signing a legit bat for CF or SS. Could be Startling Marte or Semien. Then they will have a competition for whichever position they don't sign a free agent. So if they sign Marte in CF then Pena and Leon can fight it out for SS in spring training, and you still have Diaz as a backup plan. If they sign Semien or someone else for SS then Leon, Meyers, and Chas can fight it out for CF.
Because that may have been the best option for 2022. Of course with Toro gone, it will come down to FA/trade market (unless sold on Leon playing SS and being ready for the show).
Would seem weird that they traded the super popular Javy Baez. Of course maybe they would chase him back in FA.
They are a big market team and will have an absolute pile of cash to spend in the offseason. The market will be flush at the SS position. It makes a lot of sense to start with one of the harder positions to fill as they get their rebuild off the ground. They should easily spend 100 million or more in new payroll for next season. Then the following year Heyward's contract comes off the books as well. They tried to extend Baez before trading him.
DK continuing his meh season...4.51 ERA, .6 WAR, 1.33 WHIP, 77:42 K:BB...he’s been able to eat innings at least, logging 125 to date this season.
Screw PR, we're hated on regardless of what we do. Do whatever is best for the team. Hinch is managing his ass off in Detroit and we could have just brought him back like the BoSox did with Cora (nobody even cared when they did that). Instead we now have tension between Dusty and Click regarding Myles freakin Straw. Marwin's stats this year are terrible but I still think he'd be an improvement over Robel. Plus maybe he gets rejuvenated if he comes back here, it happens.
