Is Keuchel mad that he made a bad career move and didn't sign that extension Luhnow offered him? It worked out for the Astros, if I might say. Keuchel is still at the top of my list of pitchers I love to watch in their prime.
maybe . But I remember being frustrated too at the shifting sometimes and I think that’s what he was referring to . I think we’ve gotten the science down a bit better now . But it felt like there were times that shifting hurt pitchers ability to throw to different sides of the plate (and get the out ) . for a guy who relied on ground balls , when you open up a chunk of the infield .. that’s pretty scary . It was just an extreme change quickly .
I think Luhnow felt pressured to make a splash in 2015 after Hamels nixed any deal to Houston and then ended up in Arlington. I wish the Gomez trade to the Mets had gone through so he wouldn't have been tempted to just do something for the sake of doing something. Gomez really sucked. Fiers kept us afloat during the dog days of summer in '17 when there were tons of injuries and other struggles by giving us innings but we all know how that story ended. Yuck.
mcHugh picked up the W for the Rays last night. Solid season, love to see it... 2.05 ERA in 30.2 IP, 1.04 WHIP, 44:7 K:BB
